Regarding presets, I also think it is critical to have a wide range of tutorial presets included in such advanced and capable audio creation tools. Short tutorial videos going through each section could also be very useful and help with the learning curve for newcomers of Zebra.

Havent had time to try Z3 yet, but Zebralette3 is so incredibly capable on its own but also quite hard to get your head around how to start from init and have clear workflow on a goal of what you want to create. More than just to create lucky accidents or tweaking already existing presets.
Ie how parameters affects the sound can take a lot (!) of time to learn.
You want to know how to proceed and what to do without endless testing/guessing for hours. (Even though its fun to a certain point, just like modulars).
Im someone who used mostly VA's (and some FM, additive and wavetable based synths) for the last decades. Im sure im not alone in feeling a bit lost.
Having a wide range of preset tutorials with starting points with helping description texts, would help alot.

Cant wait til I get back to the Studio to try Z3beta out :)

Crazy but pretty mindblowing idea, almost scary:
Use machine learning with Z3, to be able to re-create short audio files you load it with. Like Synplant 2 but with Z3s unique oscs, functions and modules.

I mean, Z3 should be able to re-create almost any (shortish) sound with its oscillators alone.

Let me know if you need GPU time.. ;)

The above might go a long way to help demistify certain aspects.....

& Oscillator presets! (Please! :help: :hyper: )

For Osc Presets, see viewtopic.php?t=626373

But I'm sure the 1.0 Release will bring some with the factory library!

I think at some point we'd need to have a browser for this, like in Zebra 2. And very likely sub-folders, as the current drop-down will not work for a higher number of presets.

For OSC presets, it would be awesome to get a preview the curveset / OSC FX settings. Or at least a textual description.

Ah excellent I wasn't aware of this, thank you! Hopefully some basic wave shapes are included as well, going to download and have a look :tu:

I think your idea about a browser is a good one.

Pretty sure it’s already planned - gui is not complete

I wish the opposite, having Zebra do, like Serum, D&D the last played note(s) as a wav file into Synplant. :phones:

Im a little strange.... in that somehow I ignored Zebra and U-He in general, for 15+ years. I was focused on my own little world and really not looking around enough I guess, and I somehow missed *all* their products.... until last month.

Im *stunned* by the audio quality and overall playability of Zebra3, and Ive found more interesting sounds in its stock presets than in many others. Just the first 100 or so stock presets have resulted in dozens of favorites. A couple of them hit my CPU pretty hard but my system handles it, and that is what my CPU is for -- beautiful sounds. Burn it up!

Thank you for this, and its nice to realize Ive missed this all these years!

Finally got around to give Zebra3 it's first spin. First things I feel my self missing are:

- The option to use the MSEG as LFO's (that wont retrigger with every MIDI note)
- Morphing filters
- AHDSR

I feel that such an innovative sound engine should not be restricted by only having traditional LFO shapes and filters. While morphing filters are on the top of my wishlist, more experimental filters (like we find in Serum) would also be a very nice addition to the palette.

Other than that I'm super excited to dive deeper into this beast and follow its evolution!

Post

I don't think it's a stretch to require you to move to MSEG if you need the H in your ADSR.

Post

Agree on the non key reset for MSEG's.

The regular LFOs have all the different options like tempo sync etc.

You already have an AHDSR option. On the envelope module, go to V1 and select "Hold"

I'm just messing around but to be precise, I'm asking for a less powerful Zebra3 😀
Zebra 3 is a less powerful Zebra 3... it entirely depends on how you use it.

The Envelopes already have a Hold option (V1 knob)
Set the MSEG to Single trigger mode if you want a global LFO

Very true.

I personally find that the monster synth type makes me feel like I'm almost misusing it if I don't deploy its full capabilities. Or more to the point, it feels like I should use something simpler. If I'm making a basic acid line, I'm not sure that Zebra3 would be my choice when I've got Tal Mod or Tal Bassline lurking in the shadows.

That said, I've been fiddling with the beta a lot over the last few days and damn, it's great for making simple poly pad stuff. I do feel like the detune is pretty extreme for unison stuff even at lower settings.
