Right. But this patch shows, that Zebra 3 is a beast. But a beast hard to tame.

It's like you machine-captured the energy of a typical kvr discussion, and transposed it to sound waves.Sampleconstruct wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 2:15 am Live on video - experimental patch made with the first Beta version of Zebra 3. Probably not your favorite electric piano![]()

Sure... though there's no reason to deploy its full capabilities on a single preset. Most of my sounds are simple. 3-4 modules.swilow11 wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 9:15 pmVery true.
I personally find that the monster synth type makes me feel like I'm almost misusing it if I don't deploy its full capabilities. Or more to the point, it feels like I should use something simpler. If I'm making a basic acid line, I'm not sure that Zebra3 would be my choice when I've got Tal Mod or Tal Bassline lurking in the shadows.
That said, I've been fiddling with the beta a lot over the last few days and damn, it's great for making simple poly pad stuff. I do feel like the detune is pretty extreme for unison stuff even at lower settings.

Why would I want to tame it? Let it run free... and the results are amazing!Artie Fichelle wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 4:52 am Right. But this patch shows, that Zebra 3 is a beast. But a beast hard to tame.

Hi Dudes!
Happy Holidays and Blessed 2026.
I am a long time user of Zebra and many other of the u-he synths. I would like to congratualte on ZEBRA 3. It is so impressive, even in this beta stage of development. I am more of an intuitive sound shaper. Presets are very vital and I hope when Zebra 3 is released proper you manage to provide as many varied presets as possible. Also consider that DUB TECHNO and AMBIENT genres are represented globally. These genres are the natural beneficiaries of music production software. We can boast of being a network of developers and users that are evolving a music technology at a phenomenal rate. It is a huge global market now worth billions. My wish is that it becomes bigger business than the arms trade globally, hahaha! "We'll free the people with music" sang Bob Marley.
The quality of the synthesis is impressive. Playing it with my Osmose, even without the MPE, is a pleasure and it sounds like I am playing one of the best quality synths in the world, hardware or software. I love Omnisphere 3 very much, but Zebra and Diva are my favourites. Please hurry with a new Diva too and Bazille. The custom will keep coming to u-he because you have one of the best names in the world now for software synths.
Also, never forget that INTUITIVE is a fast growing CONCEPT in all music software design. The cold nature of working with computers begs for some INTUITIVE interaction. It really helps make a more interactive, tactile and human creative experience as we meld creatively with the ever expanding digital potential of the NUMBER CRUNCHER brought to us by Turing. DAWESOME has even applied INTUITIVE to his MPE soft synth creations. It is much fun working intuitively. Maths and music are not great partners to those of us who play by ear and experimentally with no rules.
MPE is a must. The more you can achieve a romance between u-he soft synths and MPE the better. MPE is like another dimension. I use MPE as often as I can, but still feel that the market is lacking choice. I hope the finished Zebra 3 will make my Osmose a great combination. I also use Linnstrument and Roli. I use MPE in every production now. MPE presets are in deficit. It really is a starved market. It is still waiting to happen as the usual expectation upon synths and sound design.
I am not a scientist about sound. I am intuitive and like to have a starting point that presets offer. It is also allowing the ideas and imagination of others to be included in our creations so even if we are working alone we are still benefitting from the imagination of sound designers who concentrate on sound design so that we can concentrate on composition and production.
Very excited in anticipation of the finished ZEBRA 3. Thank you for all your great work. It is a pleasure to be living in this great age of technology and the huge expansion of our perception thanks to the digital opportunities that will only keep evolving. It will never stop. It is as evolving as everything else in this dimension of the physical universe. Imagination is endless and eternal in diversity.
Happy Holidays and Blessed 2026.

PS: I have been using music software since 2000. I have watched it all evolve so quickly in just a couple of decades. I was never happy with just a digital soft synth. My work around has been to introduce just a little choice hardware. I run all my soft and hard synths through a NEVE 1073 DPX and Manley Nu Mu. The Neve preamps, gain and equalization, in combination with very subtle NU Mu compression warms them up as an industry standard analogue sound. My best results for mastering though are FAB FILTER. I would not even bother with hardware limiting these days as it would be too "limited" in application compared to what software limiters offer, unles you spent a lot of money. The only other hardware I would consider is BLACK BOX. I love the plugin and know that subtle use of those HG tubes would give me the quality saturation I could delicately apply to stems and masters both. I hope to score one some fine day. HG is my favourite sounding saturator on the market.
It really makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE for rounding off what is brittle about soft synths to put them through some quality analogue boxes. All my synths come to life using this process.
Hope that experience helps anyone wondering if a few choice quality items of hardware might help. THEY REALLY DO. The Osmose sounds beautiful through the Neve and Nu Mu. Also, do get a Prism. They really do give you what you need. My music was transformed when I went over to the PRISM LYRA.
WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY, CREATIVE AND IMAGINATIVE NEW YEAR!

The longer I spend with Zebra 3 the more fascinated I become, this synth will keep on giving for years to come, totally amazing!
