Holy CPU. 35% in FL Studio, although adding more instances doesn't add extra CPU. I think Adam Szabo did the interface better, the fonts on Airwave are easier to read.
But there's a difference in sound. I'm comparing imported presets and the envelopes on JE8086 are snappier and calibrated differently. Big difference there. Also the sound is more hifi with less mud. Airwave has more going on in the mids and doesn't sound as bright. But then sometimes the patches sound identical. Maybe something going on with the import process.

Where can we get extra presets and where do we put them on windows? I'm not being lazy. I just don't know. I'll bet I'm not alone.

Airwave is an emulation of the synth, this is an emulation of the chip that powers the synth running the original firmware. A traditional plugin has to make a lot of choices about how to match the original, the JE8086 is just going to sound like Roland's original programming.Vortifex wrote: Sun Dec 28, 2025 4:34 pm Holy CPU. 35% in FL Studio, although adding more instances doesn't add extra CPU. To install other presets in all their plugins, use the patch manager.Aloysius wrote: Sun Dec 28, 2025 5:29 pm Where can we get extra presets and where do we put them on windows? I'm not being lazy. I just don't know. I'll bet I'm not alone.![]()

Jexus has one or two (thousand) free presets including for the JP-8000 and JP-8080.

Does anyone know why only the vst3’s would show in Ableton live? The AUs are in the conponent folder as well but not showing up. This is the same as for OsTirus as well. I seem to have this problem with any AUs that require the unsigned plugin commands to be run to trust the plugins.

The filter was the big difference I noted when Airwave was released; the actual JP8K can be very plucky sounding at low cutoff and TUS nails that. Maybe Adam will tweak it as time goes on. Thanks for the report on CPU; I purchased Airwave because it's so light, seems that was the right call.Vortifex wrote: Sun Dec 28, 2025 4:34 pm Holy CPU. 35% in FL Studio, although adding more instances doesn't add extra CPU. In order to play this, do we have to own the hardware or is there another way to play this?

You need the original ROM file to use it

Yeah, Airwave uses basically no CPU. It's really well optimised.skarvika wrote: Sun Dec 28, 2025 9:56 pm The filter was the big difference I noted when Airwave was released; the actual JP8K can be very plucky sounding at low cutoff and TUS nails that. Legally, you do need to own the original hardware, yes.
