[RESOLVED] Diva-esque filter modulation plugin?

I love the sound of Diva's cascade filter.

For designing SFX, though, I'm always turning to Snap Heap when I need filter modulation, or occasionally DAW automation with an EQ. These clean, often glassy filters have done a lot of work for me, but I would like to try something else. I really wish I could just plop DivaFX down on the track. Is there anything that comes close, while providing some of the needed modulation options (env. follower, LFO, etc.)?

Filterscape?
FilterFreak?
Volcano? or...

I'd like to have something that stands far apart from the sound of Snap Heap or Kirchhoff, etc. Not just saturated, but "well-tuned." What would you recommend?

It's all going to come down to personal preference in the end, but Arturia has at least four musical filters with modulation options: emulations of the filters from the MS-20, SEM, MiniMoog, and Matrix 12. I've definitely had moments where the filters I usually use get me close to the sound I want but not quite there, and one of these will end up doing it.

If you want a really creative one with TONS of modulation options, definitely check out Shade by UVI. I got it earlier this year and have been using it everywhere since. IMO it's one of the most underrated plugins out there.

For analog filter emulation, it's always gonna be Cytomic The Drop, top of the heap. JRP and SHR are both cascade filters.

Filterscape?
You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

U-he is thinking about allowing Audio in for some of the synths. Not there yet, but if it comes it would be awesome and allow you to do what you're asking for. Maybe Zebra 3 could have it first, as Zebra 2 also has a FX version, but they are considering not doing that with Zebra 3, but via Audio Input + Env Followers (?) instead?

Filterverse is amazing, many excellent sounding filter models and modulation tools, or The Drop. Filterscape is also great but only has one filter model.

Filterverse
Filterscape
UVI Shade
The Drop

I generally use Filterverse when I want creative filtering, and Shade when I want frequency precision.

edit: screw it.
i´ve overread that:

Thanks. I'm checking out the demos for everything listed. The Arturias and The Drop sound great - on Shade, unfortunately there's no demo. I can't really tell if, aside from the shapes (which are cool), it sounds that much different than the vanilla filters Kilohearts uses.

Modulation-wise, fairly simple is fine. Filterfreak pretty much works, for instance (the colors of which all evoke "sitting in a bar for 40 years").

I'll keep testing. Filterverse is up next.

Zebra 2 has zebrify and the xmf filters are very good and support audio rate FM along with the envelope follower and such.

The drop is great. The filter models really change massively with different gain at input and output. I use the wasp filter quite often for distortion and filtering.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

Fabfilter's Volcano 3 is pretty fun and has a lot of routing options, modulation and filter types.

Demo the Drop and try that Wasp filter.

If you want to demo Shade, you can email Support and they'll send you a link. I have no idea why they don't have a demo anymore- I noticed mentions of a demo on their page but no link, and when I asked about it they sent me a download.

I agree about the Kilohearts filters- imo they are the weakest part of their effects bundle and Phase Plant. The exception is the nonlinear filter, which they added later after a lot of feedback regarding the filters being underwhelming. Shade has a number of filters that sound better imo, but if you're not looking for all the modulation options, you might be happier with one of the other filters that's a bit simpler and focuses on analog-style emulations.

Though not specifically a filter, Synestia is worth checking out as well imo...

Just going to third Shade in this case; Filterscape and the Arturia emulations are great. Bitwig has some interesting characterful filters ready to go as well.
