I've found that for me it's best to do it from within DAW. So basically, in Reaper, that is dead easy - I create my init patch and make Reaper load it upon loading the instrument, in Live as well (make default), alternatively in Reason, for example - I just create my init patch and then instead of dragging a VST instrument to the session, I drag my patch instead.

You need to make your own init and save it.

It wouldn't hurt to have this as an option in the menu. Feels like asking for very basic stuff
Compared this to the Arturia one and it's main advantage is obviously that this one is free and has the option to have layers. Soundwise, no one is gonna hear an obvious difference. Certainly not in a full mix. Unless i'm missing something.
EDIT: well, i was certainly missing something. The square waveform is significantly different.

There are patches called "Template1-6" in the factory presets. Template6 is just a basic single oscillator saw wave, which is a pretty good starting point for anything.

There's also an init patch posted in the Discord.
Yes, it has been requested many times, and the team have said multiple times that they are looking into a solution for an init feature across all their emulators - so it's in progress.Dark Fiber wrote: Wed Dec 31, 2025 12:56 pm It wouldn't hurt to have this as an option in the menu. Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

No no. The Roland JP-8000 has an option to initialize patch by holding the shift key and pressing INIT, so you would expect the same functionality in the JE8086. It's what I always look for in any new synth. I want to test out the basic waveforms and don't want to reset all the buttons individually. Is it such a strange thing to give feedback on in 2025? Or is it my tone

The emulations differ from the hardware in the way they handle patches/memory, so we no longer have to manage whole banks of patches with fixed memory locations, which is a good thing generally, as tagged preset browsers offer a much better experience. Effectively, the internal patch memory is not used, and the emulations load in new patches from the patch browser or the host into the main working area / edit buffer directly - often via sysex internally.Dark Fiber wrote: Wed Dec 31, 2025 2:38 pm No no. So features in the original firmware that work directly on memory locations can't be used from the original firmware, or at least wouldn't work the way people would expect, and the TUS have to build in those features on top - essentially as part of the emulator - rather than just triggering the running synth code. And they do have plans to add Initialise features across their range of emulations, it's on their roadmap.
In the meantime, it takes a minute or so to download an init patch, or create one, save it, and you then have easy access to an init patch from then on.

Different how? There's only one kind of square wave, no?Dark Fiber wrote: Wed Dec 31, 2025 12:56 pm EDIT: well, i was certainly missing something. The square waveform is significantly different.
