Grrrr...why is that? (mixes in Reason and FL5)

I would. I've heard plenty of good mixes from both, and honestly, I say it's just as well that one should be satisfied with mixing in what they compose with - less interruption to the process.

It does sound to me like you are being fooled by a simple attenuation, kmonkey. That's not a sign of any ignorance on your part - just turn up your volume when working in Reason, I guess :P.

Back to the mixing issue, one often-overlooked strong-point of FL is its Mixer. The way it's set up has always made me feel perfectly comfortable, even from the getgo when I was more used to other methods. On switching from FL 3 to 4, I transitioned from a simple per-channel volume/pan to the 64-mixer-channel system seamlessly - in fact, more than seamlessly - it allowed me to mix my mixes with much more clarity and sophistication. And I wouldn't use the compression - it introduces latency that can be quite a problem. Classic Compressor :D
