I’m an indie producer/dev and I wanted to share something that I originally built for myself.
I kept running into the same problem with MIDI generators:
No combination of quickly generated ideas and choice of scale and time signature.
No way to quickly generate melodies and chord progressions that utilize advanced music theory concepts in a way that is both fun and useful (sorry Scaler - you're still a great plug-in though)
So I spent a lot of time building this with a friend of mine. I have a free version you can immediately drag into your DAW to test it out. If you want an idea of what it's like, think of the amount of scales that scaler provides (almost, they have more) with the usability of unison midi wizard. Plus the completely unique ability to generate midi in lots of different time signatures!
What it does:
Generates chord progressions & melodies
4 or 8 bar phrases
Works with keys, lots of scales, and lots of time signatures
Drag-and-drop MIDI (no playback — you hear it through your own instruments)
The goal wasn’t randomness — it was ideas that feel intentional and usable.
There’s also a paid version (BANG ULTD) with deeper tools like Call & Response generation, motif variation, and smarter harmonic movement, but the Lite version is completely free to try.
I’d genuinely love feedback from other producers:
What do you feel are its strengths? What are its weaknesses?
What would make it more useful in real sessions?
Free download at http://soundsdope.net (http://soundsdope.net). just click the shop now button, and find BANG Lite, checkout and check your email. 100% Free
Also if anybody enjoys the plug-in and wants to upgrade to the full version, you can get half off with this code: "HALFSIES".
