primary desktop machine: Linux (Bitwig)
secondary desktop machine: Mac (Bitwig / Logic / Numerology / BAM)
portable setup: iPad (Groove Rider II / BAM) combined with Circuit Tracks
hardware-only setups: too many to list
the main reason for using Linux as a primary machine is limited choice of software.
it's already narrowed down, so if i can do something on Linux, i certainly can do that elsewhere.

Daily bump
Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

Used to be Windows. Currently MacOS. Keeping the option of Linux open by choosing only software and plugins that run on that natively, too. Windows moved in a direction I didn't like. If MacOS does the same, I'll be ready to migrate again painlessly. (Thus my votes went to MacOS currently, and Linux for the future.)

For the last several years, we have been following the operating system adoption trends to determine what everyone is using for music production. Please participate in our once yearly survey, so that we can get the most accurate results possible:

More people consider to use Linux even if they don't really use it. And less people use or consider to use Macs. The question has been formulated this way.

Windows.
I know that Linux became usable for music making, I know about native plugins and Windows plugins with wine and bridges. Lack of software (native software) makes Linux more attractive ("less is more"). I even own a USB drive with a portable Linux distro and use it from time to time. But I'm not likely to migrate.
