I must admit I don't understand the recent presonus company that is of the current status.Problem below with Control Link - Studio One's midi mapping system.

So I midi map all my vst synths using the way presonus explains in their manual, I'm using the midi external devices with my own ( yamaha montage m ) to then use presonus's own midi mapping Control Link system.

I map my controllers with several synths.Everything works fine for a few weeks, but then later upon recalling the same template I use to create music with,I'll pull up the same plugin I mapped weeks ago , to only to find it not working correctly.

Studio One has completely forgotten the instructions, yes I mean like every parameter I mapped to my controller. I don't wanna name call the current presonus company ,but this isn't the first time, there's plenty of users saying the same thing.

Does this fall on beta testers, or presonus management? Idk this is such a basic feature and real requirement for a professional workflow....

Loading up Cubase is my only answer, due to it's midi remote system , which just works. But that's a problem, because I have alot of work years I mean like 15 with Studio One ,but unfortunately this this constant problem with memorizing and actually storing and recalling my midi mapped plugins has really let me down.

This is super frustrating, what else should i try is there a better 3rd party option for mapping plugins, as some plugins don't support their own midi learn, and depending on Presonus is not helpful. I own Plugin Guru's Unify, but I find it super slow to map plugins, anyone with a better more solid solution ?

Thanks in advance !

I had a similar issue recently using Studio One on macOS. Adding my controller as a control surface, mapping transport controls to commands, it would stop recalling what was mapped when launching Studio One with my controllers disconnected. I have all of my controllers connected to a powered hub that I only turn on when needed, so this was happening over and over again. I figure it was likely a corrupt .surfacedata file because I haven't had the issue since deleting it.

Test if your problem is related. Map a couple of your physical hardware controls in Studio One, then link them to a plugin with Control Link. Restart Studio One to see if they still work. Now close Studio One, disconnect your controller and open Studio One again. Reconnect your controller when prompted by Studio One and see if the controller mappings are now forgotten.

If they are forgotten, go to 'Help > Open Settings Folder' and locate the 'Surface Data[1]' folder. You must now close Studio One, as it recreates the file upon closing, now delete the .surfacedata file associated with your controller and test the previous steps again. They should no longer be forgotten.
