I'm downloading the demo now. I'm not a big vibe EQ guy either. I usually just use other plugins for color and then a standard EQ. Most of the time I use Waves F6 and it does what I need. I'll try anything, though.vitocorleone123 wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 9:52 pmI don’t use any analog style EQs. To date, I’ve eventually deleted them all from my computer. That said, I’ve installed the demo of this to check out this weekend (given I have 3/4 of the Korneff plugins already, it’s clear I enjoy the sound in general). Not sure if I’ll want to buy it given my preferences on EQs, but it seems worth a try.zerocrossing wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 5:59 pm I imagine it sounds fantastic. I’ve got Echoleffe and it’s amazing.

This is a great overview. Sounds really good.
First and foremost: We need great songs (again)

Just messed around with the demo a bit. Sounds really nice. I was able to get close but not quite the same by using TrueIron to mimick the input transformer, then following with Spectre to do the EQ curves, which makes sense I guess. I actually preferred hitting the inputs hard.
Didn't really care for it on the master buss, but I generally feel that way about most distortion. It certainly makes things sound thicker in a good way and I definitely prefer it to the BB-HG2 and LTL SB. Makes me tempted to try their Amplified Instrument Processor Channel Strip.
I guess the 'magic' here is in having two layers of distortion in a single plugin? I like the sound but the interface is a bit too fiddly for me. Plus I'm always excited to buy these kinds of plugins then end up abandoning them in a few weeks, so I'll probably fight the GAS on this one. Also, price is kind of high for what it is IMO. I may look at it again if there's a sale down the road. Tempting tho, no doubt.
FWIW, I'll never buy a plugin with a chocolate milk interface regardless of how good it sounds.

Like I said, it sounds cool but we need to understand what that means these days. I got to "that sound" testing against a bunch of different EQs. Free ones even. We've hit a ceiling IMHO. Taking the time to match freq curves correctly and matching similar harmonic distortion eventually creates redundancy. People are taken more by GUI and newness.Dan Korneff wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 2:15 pm Wow! Thanks so much for the kind words. I spent a lot of time working on this project and I'm glad that you guys can hear it.
This plugin is unapologetically CPU heavy. Almost every stage is interacting in ways that don’t scale cheaply. But the result justifies the CPU pain in my opinion.
There’s definitely a lot of hype out there. This one isn’t trying to be a cheap clone though. My goal was to get this as close to circuit simulation as possible. Best thing I can say is just grab the demo and spend a few minutes with it.TMaudio wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 4:53 pm New plugins are mostly hype these days. Yea it sounds good. But take any of the existing sitral emu's, oversample them, and there you go. Sound as good, some better or nearly indistinguishable.

In my opinion, this is a mojo box first, EQ second. Anybody who takes it the other way around is missing 90% of the plugins feature set.
Just mess around with the Amplifier buffer section, then push the transformers. You have tons of control over the transient response, harmonics and tonality. Try it both driven hard and subtle. It can do all kinds of interesting things.
@Dan: I'd love to see more options for the component tolerance feature. Would love to have a tighter, virtually digital 0.1% option.. and some more in between settings like 2% and 7%. And one crazy 20%.

I would have preferred if this had a modern Pro-Q style interface with 2 sections - one left and one right of the EQ - for the input/output transformer functions. I get that this is supposed to be an Telefunken emulation, but tab/dropdown diving though an interface with this few controls really doesn't make sense in 2026. A single-pane window would make this far more usable, or at least having that option as a second 'skin'.
Add in a compressor section at the bottom with options for FET, VCA, and Opto and decent visual feedback, a switch to change the compressor-EQ chain order, and you'd probably have the best channel strip on the market.

But Korneff plugins always need a "in the back" section

I’ve got to say, it sounds great. Very smooth and vibey. My issue is that after the collapsing of my last game company, work’s been scarce. Maybe when things pick up again.

I really hate UIs that mirror old gear to the point where it makes no sense. The Soundtoys one is OK, but lacks output gain control, which makes it less useful as a drive effect, even though it’s good. The Arturia one is the best and most clear. This one is not great, but it’s a simple enough device that a bit of time and it should become second nature.billinder33 wrote: Sat Jan 10, 2026 3:14 pm I would have preferred if this had a modern Pro-Q style interface with 2 sections - one left and one right of the EQ - for the input/output transformer functions. Back on topic; this thing sounds smooth as butter. Also working fine with Level-Loc in the same chain!

I did not care for this eq, blown up blurry bottom, no special mids or highs compared with what I have. And I have the saturation I require many and very good. The wallet is relieved. We definite seem to have all the plugs we need now.
Could just be that I don't like this style of old school equalization.

F* me, I caved.
Tested a bunch of saturation plugins last night and this morning (Kush, Shattered Glass, IVGI, Tupe, and others) looking for something that would scratch the itch of this one and ultimately just threw in the towel and bought it. Despite the stated architectural differences in the underlying models, it reminds me a lot of Acustica Mystic in that it brings a forwardness to signals while also enhancing depth. But I decided that I won't be putting anything Acoustica on my new system, so SITRAL it is. Hard to describe but it strikes me as more '3D' than many of the others I demoed and anything I currently own. Amazing on vocals even though that's not its stated purpose. Don't love the interface, but I'll adapt. No regrets, it'll get a lot of use.
Also during the testing process, I found the Nembrini Audio PSA0000. Totally different type of saturator, but by varying the left and right settings, you can get some really interesting results. No stated oversampling on this one unfortunately, so limited use cases. Dirt cheap though, so will be picking this one up.
