Things here are a lot better now, since the issue got removed.Bombadil wrote: Fri Dec 12, 2025 1:33 pm And yet…life goes on.
I‘ve registered at forums that were ridiculously controlling, and didn‘t hide the fact they played favourites. I didn‘t hang around.
KVR is entirely reasonable. I sometimes have trouble drawing inside the lines, but I‘ve never had any problems except for a few posts getting removed.
I also don‘t go out of my way to make a nuisance of myself.
That just comes naturally.

Maybe it's difficult, but it pays off later.
Just one example : nowadays I realized I am unable to upgrade to UAD Signature bundle v3 from my v1.
In one KVR topic, some users shared their experiences. One of them wrote he was unable to upgrade, but wrote to UAD support - then they handled his case. I did the same, and managed to upgrade.

KVR is great! Sure there are arguments, sure there is a specific culture (and lots of inside jokes), but there are also a lot of respectable people too. I even respect the determination and grit of those who are dedicated to their craft that I don’t always see eye to eye with. And believe it or not, I root for their success. We are all artists. At least, that’s the way I see it. I love listening to music—I have always loved listening to music. I love the awesome variety and work that has gone into making the music—even if it’s not of my preferred genre. I was young when I started here, and not married. I am now married, and my children are mostly grown up. It’s hard to believe that much time has passed while visiting nearly daily to this home away from home.
Newcomers: don’t be afraid to post. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. You’ll get some snarky comments—it happens. But you’ll quickly learn who is willing to help. You find people that rub you the wrong way. You may even come to respect some of those people.
Remind yourself that this is a worldwide forum, and even though English is the primary language used here, English is definitely not everyone’s first language. If something comes off offensive to you, remember, the author’s intention may have not been to offend. It usually isn’t. Those who like to troll have a pattern of trolling, any you will quickly learn who to ignore. There’s even an option to “mute” those you don’t want to interact with.
Overall though, KVR has been great, and I think everyone can benefit here.

I've just joined (I had an account many years ago I think but I must have forgotten what email it was linked to). I only joined to buy something from the buy/sell forum, but I can't seem to DM the seller to register my interest. Is that part of the restrictions mentioned in this thread or am I just being dumb (not uncommon for me)?
