Ok, I've read through this thread with slight amusement and selfinterest (I recently bought a mac mini and started using Logic again).
And since I restarted using it again afterswitching from Reaper (yes, I know I'm probly the first one to do this ever) I've noticed some good and bad things:
- shortcuts mapping: it's quite horrendous, especially since some functions have different names
- no possibillity to shortcut fx (sadly that's a reaper only, though I love how I can access the eq so fast in logic)
-recalling saved tracks isn't that intuitive in Logic as it used to be 2 years ago (which is the second biggest annoyance in Logic for me)
- changing note grid values in the midi editor, which makes editing midi a pain in the butt (this actually number one for me)
- the mouse tools: I love them, but it would be so great to see their shortcuts when browsing)
-Take folders: i just love it so much to comp in Logic. Reaper has that too, but Comping in Logic is just perfect.
- stock plugins: just the best of any daw (and I really tried them all)! Maybe Ableton has some more creative ones, but nothing beats the Logic ones in GUI, presets and useabillity,
- Panning: it's weird and I'm still trying to fix
-AI: it's pretty bad right out of the gate. I spoke to a programmer and the thing with AI is, that you really have to define what you want it to AND which sources to use and which to ignore (like to avoid e-chords.com, chords.com, social media & forums as a musictheory source).

Overall I'm pretty happy with Logic, but a few things (more annyoances, than bugs) definetely need some fixing :)
Let's see what the next udates bring

I'm also going the way of Reaper -> Logic Pro.

As much as I love Reaper, it turned into a procrastination nightmare for me. I keep editing my theme and making shortcuts, arranging toolbar icons etc. I CAN'T, LEAVE IT, ALONE! lol

It's not a Reaper problem, it's a me problem. When I open Logic or Studio One, I immediately start writing something, because there's no distractions to pull me down a rabbit hole.

There's plenty of small things I'm not happy with in Logic (naming third party drums, can't sidechain multi-out drums without routing to a bus, no ARA without Rosetta, Waveforms look low-res). All of that has workarounds though.

for me, Logic invites creativity, where as Reaper I spend an hour in the code (RTConfig) because I don't like some minor thing about the GUI.

You still need another tool for region gain
You need another tool for automation curves
You can't reverse an item if its using flex
Delay designer and ultra beat ui not updated
No drawn curves to velocity - have to use the transformer

Automation curve by Shift+Control with Pointer tool.
Agree with the rest and much more missing basics.

I think Ultrabeat is probably legacy at this point. Don't count on it getting updated since it seems Drum Machine Designer is what Apple wants people to use instead.
Studio One // Bitwig // Logic Pro // Ableton // Reason // FLStudio // MPC // Force // Maschine

Yea foe sure re ultrabeat
Just a reskin would be fine
Same with Delay designer
The real strength is in the content imo
Basically includes all of what u need
Ignoring ai bs and the live triggering thing is fairly easy

Anyone expecting Splice integration?

Considering the delayed update release, I am hoping 11.3 comes with Splice integration!

I think it won't happen ever. Only if apple buys splice :D

Not only that. Right now, they're building a HUUUGE server facility in Brazil, apparently TikTok is behind it. IIRC, it's in the northeastern area where they're already suffering electric shortages all the time. Even drinking water supply seems to be an issue here and there.
All that just to create and host gazillions of AI slop created by imbeciles.

Because they don't care anyway. I've been using it literally for decades already. Now I just don't bother anymore.

Which is incredibly bad as you can't make DMD to behave like a normal instrument.
Especially when programming drums or whatever percussive stuff, I'm always using multiple tracks playing through the same channel (IMO still one of *the* most brilliant aspects of Logic) - but that's impossible with DMD as it's basically just a summing stack - and you can't use multiple tracks of a single summing stack, either.
I really wish they had made DMD designer to be a "normal" multi-out instrument, still being able to load whatever other plugins into it's pads - because that aspect is actually quite amazing.

What do you mean? You can draw in velocity curves.

How? Drawing vel curves on a group of notes requires a line to be assigned....rather than sweeping through velocity values for notes a la reaper cubase ableton etc

Ok, it's in fact not as nice as it once was with the old incarnation of hyper edit (now step edit), but before we get into that, you can easily drag velocity lines (no curves, unfortunately) in both region automation and the piano roll's controller editor lane.

To draw curves, you need to open step edit and create a lane. The default lane will be a volume lane and you gotta change its status from "Control" to "Note" and then uncheck the "pitch" box.
That'll now give you the velocity "sliders" of all selected notes (or all notes within one region) and you can draw around to your liking.

It's best to save that with your templates.
