Just got an email about this

www.tonalic.com

Seems to be a guitar line creator. Finally I can let my calloused fingertips go back to my soft baby fingertips!
Is that the reason for inventing it?

----edit
Or, hmm, they've found a way to create a subscription model

Everything but a Melodyne update 😭

Post

It's subscription only. No perpetual license. I don't like that.

So much waste of time and energy from Celemony

We want a new Melodyne with better algo and less artefacts, vibrato control (freq, amplitude, fade in fade out)

That's the minimum

And no requirements for constant internet connection or subscription.

Yet the marketing video claims no AI.. :hihi:

Whatever they use I think it's just greed driven, guaranteed revenue streams driving them.

I mean, they do explicitly state that there's no AI in the product (not sure about the female voice over in the vid though..), and from looking at the site and videos I'd be confident that they're not lying about it.

It looks like they recorded thousands of guitar parts, stuck them in some melodynable-searchable-library-backend and plopped a search engine in a plugin, with a required connection to the servers which store all the melodyned recordings, so you can pick one and it will be automatically pitched and tempo-matched to your project. (otherwise you'd have to download hundreds of GB of recordings and possibly only use 5%), no AI there; just well recorded and processed guitar parts.

But subscription..

Post

I could be 100% interested in the product but I am 100% not interested in subscriptions.

I think Toontrack will eventually release a great guitar package.

Thanks for clarification, some of the latest AI driven stuff is providing subscriptions only, and this was my first assumption after having a short glimpse on the page.

Maybe it's just 80 guitarists in cubicle booths at the ready. A request comes in they start jamming, audio sent out.

Started with loops, I guess this is just the natural progression to instant gratification production- Splice on speed!

I don't think many people will subscribe however, its aimed at people who make guitar based music, I think many/most of those people enjoy playing instruments, here you are subscribing to hear and record other people play instruments!

They hired the guy who was let go by Reason to do some videos (Ryan). He's a good one. I figured someone would pick him up.
