It's older server hardware. Will work for your needs fine. Power draw is the only consideration if you're very concerned about power bill and leaving on 24/7. Will last a long time.
A decent audio interface will ensure life is perfect.
Is multiple cores in a CPU more important than speed for recording? Advice Appreciated

Great video, it's popular with me for sure, should be with others too as you were pretty diplomatic about presenting it, I would not be...Benedict wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 7:13 amI made a vid about that four years ago, Needless to say it was not popular. I suggested that if a piece couldn't work with nothing but sine waves, it was not really a good piece of music.eLawnMust wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 2:05 am ...if you take off all the FX & simplify the sounds there's nothing left other than a simplistic lullaby...
We can all "di-da-deee-do" Europe's "Final Countdown" *ya just did it didntcha*but can anyone just melody Trailer Swift or similar AI slop (ducks)?
Newer DAWs and VST are a tiny bit better based on horsepower for things like drift, but after that, what a person can make in a DAW now is not any better as such for all that. Proveably rather the opposite based on evidence.
But who other than declared wackers really cares as gear lust and complaining about how Reason isn't exactly the same as ProFools or CubeAss whilst making unpublished (and unpublishable) loopz seems to be all DAWville is really about.

But it's same here as being a bassist in numerous bands in 70's & 80's one needs to 'listen' & train one's ear but few do, on here you always see someone "Help me figger out the melody & chords to this shiddy tune, PLEASE!!" Heck I listen to it & same super simple crapola... Nobody wants to spend time jamming to tunes to train the ear, they just buy up FL or Live & figger "I'm a musician now!" Hell, no you are NOT! Thus gravitate to 'fat sounds' that really are more like soundFX & most won't fit well into anything...
Thanks for the video & all your contributions thru the years!!

This one is a clunky outdated processor.

Similar to the Xeon CPU you could ( for example ) buy an older Intel i5 12400 CPU and this CPU is way more efficient.
