I've always done BC, but I recently dropped Spotify and a number of the other streaming services. It's cool to see with BCs change of hands, a few times now, that they haven't completely sold out.Userrr wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 3:13 pm I switched back to bandcamp just half a year ago and really don't regret it.

They can remove content they suspect is A.I.??? Not good. So now uploaders may have to furnish what? Stems to prove they're not utiliIng A.I.? Who's not to say BC won't covertly furnish these stems to companies that run A.I. for the production of A.I. music?
Saying "they can't do that".....well......yes they can. The only reason why a layman can't break rules is because they can't afford it.

This is amazing!! Ive been feeling frustrated with all the "AI" trash specific platforms have been allowing, ignoring the point of view of MOST of their artists and customers, but what Bandcamp has done actually caused me to immediately sign up and create an artist page there.
Ive been on... lol Soundclick dotcom for like 23 years, just out of habit and because I dont sell or promote my amateur music, but I think soundclick is probably not a good place to be anymore. Thank you Bandcamp!! This is a light at the end of the tunnel in that space, at least.
Ive also dropped spotify, and every platform, video game developer, music brand, or anyone else I can find participating in this monstrous grift. I created a custom group on KVR called "AI developers to ignore" and have been adding things to that lately.

"AI" trash isnt hard to detect, in most cases. It doesnt require major heavy lifting, and if people try to trick the platforms they use by sneaking in plagiarized, artificially generated music that they plan to steal money from the platform with, they should be banned and have all funds received taken back from them, in court if necessary.VOODOO U wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 5:02 pm They can remove content they suspect is A.I.??? You dont pretend to be an artist, and profit from pretending. Art is a human behavior, not a product, and this is all going to come crashing down in the very near future. (the bubble)

You said it, in *most* cases. In cases where it's not easy to detect, it would then require artists to show some proof no A.I. was utilized.
Maybe at this time A.I. is a bit obvious but that will change sooner than you think and I wouldn't be surprised if it's already been used in the entertainment industry without us knowing. It's the usual - the laymen get all the fun stuff years after the fact.
Anyhow, once A.I. catches up, who's going to know the difference?
What I see is opportunity to require artists to relenquish some art work if they want to continue using services. It's not a big deal because what's more important for most musicians is to get noticed by all their 2 fans.
Tell that to Milli Vanilli and all those other boy bands. Heck tell that to The Monkees! You dont pretend to be an artist, and profit from pretending.

Get real, wake up and wake up fast. A.I. is the next generation. Our new president here in the States will be The Terminator.

None of that really has any effect on the basic economics of all this, the vast energy consumption (and public water they are stealing), and the overall poor behavior of that part of this industry.
Most of the US economy will crash, as it always does every 10-12 years because of a corrupt oligarchy that exists inside the state. Its always the same, but if you look at the amount of toxic debt held by lots of big banks, or you read any economists,m you might know what I mean.

There has been a ton of investment in AI and almost nobody, except for hardware manufacturers, is actually making a profit from it or even has a viable plan for starting to turn a profit. Big tech companies are pushing it hard because they desperately want consumers to "need" it but that's not really happening. A lot of people want zero AI in their lives at all, and a lot more people just don't care about it.
This year at CES was big on AI, but Dell actually said "AI just isn't a selling point for consumers" and backed off the whole "AI PC" thing.
