Seeing SWAYED is at the home stretch, I can barely contain my excitement! Congratulations, sheaf, Mario, et al. I have become Stryde Audio's first [publicly visible] Instagram follower. 😆

Especially auspicious that we've just started page 77 of this thread, too … 😛

Though I find it's too bad this can't be SW77. Swayed or any product ending in -ed just seems unprofessional to me... it doesn't even seem like a product model or name. But oh well.

The most popular FM Synth plugin ever is called Dexed

Most popular ever? I think that may be arguable. But Palindromes get an exclusion! :hihi:

(Even though I'm not fond of that one either. Dexed? Come on! :dog: )

Oh no, who's going to break the bad news to "Wired"? :hihi:

Or how about the makers of world-class and beloved "Red" video cameras? Maybe if they didn't have a name ending in "ed" they wouldn't be limited to being merely "world-class" in quality and brand recognition? :D

We can all have our favorite possibilities, but if Sheaf loves "Swayed", that will be fine with me. It is a bit unique, and if the software performs well, no one will be paying much attention to the name anyway. I suggest, the uniqueness of the name will actually be a benefit to it. If the software performs well, the uniqueness of the name will be seen much more as "distinctive" than "unprofessional". Instead of following product naming trends, Sheaf could be setting a trend. That could be a very positive thing. And to me, the entire premise of any product name ending in "ed" being "unprofessional" just seems a bit irrational to me.

I don't know if my comments will leave you swayed, but at least I've shared my opinion on the name.

I guess you have never been on a web forum where someone mentions getting an FM synth plugin in passing and it's instantly flooded with calls for people to get Dexed

Post

The key here is the original name was Sway, so he turned it into a past tense verb -- Swayed.

If the name was Cheese, it's now Cheesed. Potato, now Potatoed. Jump, Jumped. Frown, Frowned. It just seems really silly to me. Maybe even lazy. As if he couldn't be bothered with planning the name so he just slapped on an -ed and bobs yer uncle. :hihi:

Swayed doesn't even sound like a music product. "I was jamming in Swayed and was really feeling it." You were jamming and swaying to what? "Swayed." Yes, I understand you were swaying but to what?

Who's on first? Yes. Who is. That's what I'm asking!

I have not. Usually the threads I've seen have ended up with everything named. FM8, F'em, OPS7, opsix, DX7V, Bleas Omega, etc and yes Dexed.

Perhaps Sheaf should bypass your past tense argument and name it Suede? :hihi:

 I love it!

More seriously, I just think after all the effort in developing such a remarkable synth, all the setbacks, likely the long nights, all the highs and lows, it just seemed rather disappointing to see such a crowning achievement not get a similar care in the name. But if he likes it, that's indeed his prerogative! It's still going to function and sound the same regardless what it's called.

Some of my sys.ex patches does react with standard MIDI vol and pan ( #7 and €10 ) controls
Some other... doesn't.

but i can't see, in the SWAYED editor, where i can change this parameter...
Are there still some little patch parameters which being edited on original TG77 and not yet editable here ?

i see the parameters for LFO pan value, but not for global volume and panpot, in Swayed.
Not 100% sure what you mean, but they aren't in the voice/controllers tab of the COM screen?

I did think real long and hard about the name change. But it was very important to me to have it close enough to the original name so everyone would immediate understand that it's the same product. If it's suddenly called Thingamabob then it would be really confusing.

I tried the other closely related suggestions like SUAY and SWAY77 but in the end I wasn't vibing with them, they just didn't feel right as a logo on the UI. This one does, for me at least.

Bit of a bummer to see you claim it's just some careless decision. But no matter what name I would have chosen, at least someone would've disliked it enough to come in to voice their disapproval, so it's all good.
