it's like his company is trying to commit suicide. I am seriously considering writing the companies who carry his products and warning them.

I'm not massively surprised DiscoDSP has done it. And done it on the QT.

If George is expecting people to beg for the chance to upgrade at whatever insane price he set, I think he's going to be disappointed.
It took me a long time to figure out how bad this company was. When I first realized this, is when I wrote asking to download a product I bought. He flat out refused to let me download it. He said I had to upgrade to the latest version. And now he even took that option away. I actually might celebrate when this trash company goes out of business.

Discovery Pro is a virtual analog synthesizer and sampler featuring 4 layers, 12 oscillators, 12 filter types including Nord Lead 2 and Moog models, PADSynth re-synthesis, SFZ/WAV/SoundFont support, Nord Lead 2 SysEx import/export, arpeggiator with Markov chain mode, and 2x/4x/8x/16x oversampling. It includes over 5,000 presets across 100 banks.

Version 8.13, a free update for 8.x customers, introduces a completely redesigned Shadow Wave skin featuring premium 3D aesthetics with realistic depth and shadows, replacing the previous flat vector-based theme, and an improved Moog ladder filter for classic analog filter behavior at high resonance values.

What's New
  • Redesigned Shadow Wave Skin: Completely rebuilt from scratch, replacing the flat vector-based 7.x theme with a premium 3D appearance featuring realistic depth, shadows, and enhanced visual appeal. Modernized interface design maintains Discovery Pro's professional workflow while delivering a fresh, contemporary look across all controls and displays.
  • Moog Ladder Filter Improvements: Added self-oscillation capability with smooth cubic blend for enhanced resonant sounds and classic analog filter behavior starting at >95% resonance values.
Discovery Pro is available for Windows, macOS (including Apple Silicon), and Linux in VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and standalone formats.

Discovery Pro 7.x served as the current version from 2018 to 2023, receiving continuous updates and full support throughout its lifespan. To ensure a smooth transition, download availability was extended until January 2026, nearly 3 years beyond the Discovery Pro 8.x release, during which time discounted upgrade pricing ($49-$99) was offered to existing customers. Discovery Pro 8.x represents the current generation and is available at standard pricing. I thought it was just me. I thought I had seen an upgrade option in my account a month or two ago.

Now it looks like there's an unspecified period after a major version release during which upgrades are available.

Also, everyone should download and back-up the installers just in case those also disappear from your accounts.

Is anyone else not seeing download links in their account?
Until forever fades away.

Yeah I own v7 and there's no installer available for download in my account. I should have saved it off somewhere I guess, but WTAF kind of bullshit is that?

RE: download links missing from accounts

Probably the thing to do is to contact DiscoDSP at their tech support link:

That looks very nice. What's the upgrade price from D-Pro version 7.9?

Also, I have seen reports of download links for purchased licenses disappearing from customers' accounts. I hope you are aware of the problem and that it's just a temporary glitch.

no mine did and he would not give me a download link, said I had to upgrade to latest version. And now even took away option to upgrade.

Thank you. Good to know. The other day I noticed the upgrade link had disappeared from my account. Luckily I downloaded the installers for all three platforms at the time, because just two days later the download links for version 7 are also gone.

Looking at the receipt from time of purchase, I don't see anything about an "upgrade window" for the next version, or an end-of-life (EOL) policy and the removal of download links.

Seriously? Discovery Pro 7.x wasn't really old. Seems like discoDSP is faster abandonware than you can say purchase.

When will support end and when will the installers be removed from customer accounts?

I think these "features" should be mentioned in every single one of your product announcements.

When a Discovery Pro version is end-of-life, is the challenge/response activation shut down as well?
