Sheaf's own publicity materials already look fantastic. This was just a fun way to let those in the thread who mourn the name choice grieve.

For us, who know what Sway is, the name does not matter. But for people who don't, it will affect future sales. In that contextmI consider Swayed a very bad name. Maybe for the first edition. But then sales suck, pls. consider a better one.

You have no way of knowing how the name will or will not affect sales. Pure speculation.Artie Fichelle wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 10:52 am For us, who know what Sway is, the name does not matter. Why do you think Sway would automatically be attached to the SY77 in people's minds but Swayed won't be?Artie Fichelle wrote: Sun Jan 18, 2026 10:52 am For us, who know what Sway is, the name does not matter. You are also making the assumption that people will have an association with "77". A significant amount of plugin buyers would assume that means it's an emulation of something from 1977, not 1989. Softube has a synth plugin called "Model 77" that is an emulation of the Yamaha CS80 for example
Future sales are not going to be effected because the Plugin is named Swayed instead of Sway. That's just idiotic
People just need to get a grip and shut the hell up about the name. Racehorses, Boats, Guitar Pedals, and Plugins can be named pretty much whatever they want and no one cares
Don't believe me. What musical instrument is Falcon? Halion? Surge? Diva? Zebra? Absynth?Kontact? I can list many more if you like
I think it's time we just give Sheaf a break and put on our big boy pants, shut the hell up, and stop the lectures about the name. No one gives a damn what members of the peanut gallery think about it. Make your own plugin from scratch and call it whatever you want, or harras U-he because they name their Synths Hive, Diva, Repro, Bazillie, Ace, and Zebra. I am sure Urs would hire a genius like yourself to help him get the word out because no one knows what Zebra and Diva are.

Falcon soars
Halion radiates
Surge pushes forward
Diva impersonates dinosaurs
Zebra camouflages
Absynth summons fairies
Kontakt summons aliens
Hive buzzes
Repro takes your car when you’ve fallen behind on payments
Bazille is a mouse that solves crimes
Ace puts its cables everywhere, whether pleasurable or not

He should call it "Released" so we can have something else to talk about other than the name.

Ivy is right. Who cares what the name is? Most synth names make no freaking sense at all anyway.
Wasp? I feel like I'm ready to be stung instead of sitting down to play an instrument.
Rayblaster? I feel like I'm about to sit down to a Flash Gordon serial.
Wiggle? I'm not even gonna go there.
Really, you guys need to get a life.
