Hi.All
I am new to this whole sound thing so I need some basic advice. I have downloaded various progams, kyristal, audacity etc, but don't know what I really need. All I want to do is be able to record my electric or acoustic guitar to my pc. and add a few other instruments and effects. My biggest problem is I am severely tech challenged. If I can't pry on it with a screwdriver or hit it with a hammer I am in trouble. I need the most idiot proof set up I can find. Any ideas on a bunch of freeware programs that will work for me without giving me a nervous breakdown. Thanks

And for some geetar specific distortion/amp plugins I'd go for simuanalog, buz, tubebaby and x-amp;nuffink wrote:Try this thread. If you ignore the usual bitching later on BONES recommendations are sound.

thanks for the imput. Traction was going to be my first choice but, I missed it by a week so what other host would work well for guitar players in particular. To answer moritz morpheous, I am not concerned with the quality of my soundcard or computer at the moment. The computer will do but, the card will have to be replaced at some point. Right now I am just trying to line up the software and spend the time trying to figure out how to use it. No easy task for me. Those guitar effects looked cool. It is gonna be a while before I can actualy use them.
