The Legend HZ vs Mini V3 [Comparing 2 beasts/Preset clone test]

Hi,

So I've been using Mini V3 for years, got Legend HZ few months ago for almost free, finally decided to test it out properly, I see a lot of people hyping it.

I have nice walking bass preset for Mini V3, I'm trying to recreate it in Legend, I just can't get it right. For instance the sound from V3 has kind of snappier envelope? Hard to describe.

I guess it's probably skill issue, but I don't know.
Mini V3 is set to unison and polyphony, which I think isn't possible with Legend.

Also Legend has ADSR env vs ADR in V3.

The LegendHZ has Unison. Look near the top-right. Polyphony dial.

Also, since you have Decay on in Mini V3, in LegendHZ, set the Release knob to the same position as the Decay knob.

Hopefully those two tweaks get you closer.

that soundcloud sound quality makes both synths sound indistinguishable

I wouldn't be able to pick one over the other from that example. If you had said that they were just one synth, I'd assume the envelope settings were being modulated. The envelope was slightly different but not in such a way that the sound was effected massively.

Yeah but it seems to behave differently, in V3 you have unison and polyphony at the same time, you can even play chords with the sound.

In Legend if I set it to unison it changes the sound completely, and I have to make it 100% wide so it doesn't sound weird.

Also I feel like the V3 sound, sounds like it had some LFO pitch modulation, even though it doesn't.

I've tried playing with release knob but it doesn't change the sound at all.

I just feel like the V3 sound feels snappier, especially the attack, I don't know if it can't be replicated in Legend or if it's skill issue, perhaps both.

I've uploaded latest versions of the presets for V3 and Legend if anyone would like to give it a try, also added new audio demo there:

Oh and I feel like I had to add some resonance, drive and feedback in Legend even though V3 sound doesn't have that.

it'd be great if everybody could have those "ways". Because, since TLHZ was released, it's impossible to have an "entry price" on a Minimoog from Synapse Audio. I wonder how many people such as me have bought a soft minimoog from another company. But perhaps it's better for them...

it'd be great if everybody could have those "ways". Because, since TLHZ was released, it's impossible to have an "entry price" on a Minimoog from Synapse Audio. I wonder how many people such as me have bought a soft minimoog from another company. But perhaps it's better for them...

I mean there are ways, like grabbing good deals from knobcloud and what not.
