The past few years of marketing has been like watching Sideshow Bob stepping on rakes. They mess things up and change back.
Wouldn't be surprised, and could happen if marketing research finds the new name turns off too many users. Also, the "One" never confused me. I thought Studio One as like being in a recording studio, room "1". And room 1 in a real recording studio usually has the best audio gear for recording.

Also, the brand Presonus is highly regarded, as their hardware is top quality. We use the Presonus active stage speakers which are fantastic. So when I found there was a Presonus DAW I had to check it out, just because of the brand name. And found it is a very high quality DAW.

Some like Fender gear, some don't. To soon to say how much the name change matters, for good or bad. A sudden name change is always an initial shock.

Fender reminds me of Bender every time I see it. And Bender is a sassy, loud mouthed cartoon robot.

In Live it's in the Create menu: Capture MIDI. In Logic it's called Flashback capture (Shift+R). The DAW is always recording in the background and I can recover it to a MIDI track, if I realise that I just happened to hit on a riff or phrase or chord sequence that might change my life. 8)

Is there an option like that in S1 7 or in Fender 8? If there isn't, I just wonder – why not?

The established standard term for this is "retrospective recording" which is how it is named in Studio One as well and has been there since V5.1 - you can find it in the Inspector - this is just for MIDI though ( it's kind of there for audio as well but in a completely different way).
Retroactive recording is how about a third of my tracks begin. I start noodling around on a synth, think, 0ooh, i like that alright..' then remember i can capture it w/ retro. record. Very useful feature.

It's the only time I ever open the inspector.

Name change isnt always so good. Fender has always had a sort of Grandpa/Dad rock thing to it, same as Gibson

They should have left it alone, same way Yamaha left Cubase alone.

Just to clarify, I mean the folder track BEING the bus (as well as the folder). So, in the console you have the folder track which allows you to open and close the tracks/channels within it (let's avoid that complication and assume it 1:1) but the folder track is also the bus so has a volume fader, inserts, plugins etc and you can route it wherever you want.

This is so simple and intuitive that I genuinely thought this was in every DAW but it's clearly not in Cubase. In fact, I'm trying to explain it on the Steinberg forum and struggling to get people to understand how it's just the obvious way to do things and makes the mix console so much simpler.

Name changes are never good (unless you seek to be forgotten), but this one is especially stupid, because without the vendor's name it's just "Studio Pro" (i.e. that's the actual product-name) - and it's relly hard to come up with a more generic name - well, Waveform aside perhaps... :-o

renaming Propellerheads into Reasonstudios was another stroke of genius... :dog:

A classic sketch from Turkey Television comes to mind:
[Core i7 8700 | 32GB DDR4 | Win11 x64 | Studio One 7 Pro | WASAPI ]

Most software developers seem to be terrible at marketing (including branding). I think that's understandable (left brain / right brain). But now executives, who have access to full time marketeers and media creatives, can't come up with anything better?

Though Studio One didn't really make sense to me either. Especially after version 1.0 -- Now its Studio One Two and Studio One Three.

I like... Kristal Audio Engine. Or maybe just Kristal Audio. It has a nice ring to it. :P

Maybe they can even have a starter version and name it.. Kristal Light. That's a refreshing name to me. :hihi:

'Audio Program 1' would be my name of choice for a professional DAW.

I wouldn’t share a bed with someone whose appearance would turn me off when I wake up.

This Fender thing needs to go!

This name change is beyond cringe, it’s some corporate boy’s wet dream of kissing a** to Servco…when I thought it couldn’t get more cringe after that Presonus video (if you’re one of us, you’ll take a bite) explaining the new v7 update plans/subscriptions etc., they went ahead and surpassed it. Their support, marketing, all seem a little slimy now. First, I’m sure they promised their shareholders more volume with the new update scheme and subscription offerings that didn’t materialize. ok, strike that, let’s rebrand and plaster Fender everywhere, simultaneously cheapening both brands and killing off one.

I realize that the kiss a** fanboys will love the program no matter what. Hell, even I had had high hopes and applauded them with their development from v3 to v6.

I received a license for FenDaw with the purchase of an audio interface and downloaded it today. I am not saying this is not a capable DAW, but it’s grotesque. Needlessly plastering Fender all over rebranded plugins, plugin GUI redesign to accommodate this, splash screen, idiotic 3d elements randomly strewn throughout the overall GUI and plugins. A lot of wasted effort on superficial nonsense and childishly grotesque rebranding instead of actually improving the core program. Tonex shit* all over any of these Mustang offerings, this is hilarious.

They still have the washed out, bright white background for selected tracks/waveforms with no option to revert to v6 appearance settings. I had hope there would be some gui improvements, but it’s just a mish mash of needless stanmped out/indented areas, buttons, renaming, moving, lame introduction of random 3d elements. Cubase GUI was already looking good - if they can just introduced tabbed plugin windows and a more streamlined workflow…if they ever wake up and undo this horseshi*, maybe I’ll de-sour, but I sincerely doubt that, so hold on to your Presonus installers…and for the record, I do have a Strat in the arsenal, so I like Fender, but have the f**kin sense to keep some brand separation and some sense of professionalism, just like Yamaha does with Cubase, etc.

Hey guys!
I have a question about automation control. We have the knob A in the Software Parameter window (top left corner) - to drop the current automation parameter to the track. Is there a shortcut for this action? To not to use this knob A by hand. A shortcut would be way better. I can't find this in the Keyboard Shortcuts!

Option + A: shows automation line for last touched parameter. (On windows probably Alt + A).

I have a macro to show last touched parameter in new automation lane:

Alt+A doesn't work. Shortcut A is Show Automation as default. And I want a shortcut for Edit Automation (knob A in Software Parameter window)

UPD: ah, this macro works just well! Thank you 🙏such a time saver!

Tried loading 3 of my older projects (from S1 6), and it was basically 0 for 3. First one crashed before loading, second crashed seconds into the session once loaded, 3rd attempt (all different projects) it played and didn't crash but some god awful sound played in place of Stylus RMX midi. Maybe to do Rex 2 format?

Also slighly worse cpu hit on the one that I managed to play, which was my intent initially to compare b/t them.

So big fail far as that goes, and a significant one. Hopefully bug fixes will change things in subsequent iterations.

As it stands it looks like I'll have to finish older tracks in version 6. There was a problem with a Sonnox plugin acc. to one of the crash reboot screens, not a good sign as I use several Sonnox plugins regularly .
