Yep. Or not. One step forward, one step back. But then it probably depends, and is hardly measurable.

Best attitude imho is not care too much about this, unless you have evidence performance has deteriorated. Turn off eye candy if possible, as a precaution.

Yes, spread out over quite a long time, with Tahoe now being available for longer hence more data available. I don't remember the exact prompts either. On top of that there's been a recent update which may have improved performance.

Sequoia has been so boring and predicable.

You know what that means?

That means it runs buttery smooth and exactly the way I want it to run.

No surprises whatsoever.

Once Logic Pro make me update for a new feature I really want to use, Sequoia is my best os friend.

Though 26.2 supposedly fixes a bunch of issues, if you’re still on Sequoia, I’d recommend waiting it out for now. If you do upgrade unplug as many peripherals as you can before performing the update! The desktop testing Apple does seems to be more limited than you’d like, and you’re a lot more likely to experience update issues if you have things connected which produce configs Apple don’t expect (more than one display or different Thunderbolt adapters etc.) So unplug, and plug back in once the update is done.

It seems Tahoe’s causing more issues than Sequoia did, and I’m still waiting on a few things to be updated for it. EG The extension Quicklook video adds thumbnail support to more media formats, and it’s partly broken in Tahoe, leading the dev to refer to Tahoe as “Vista” on his github

Mostly performance shouldn’t change, though I’ve seen reports of performance issues with Crossover, saying Tahoe increases the CPU use for x86 desktop apps. I don’t know how true that is. It’s more that little changes are breaking bits of various things (EG I’m not too confident in the Rogue Amoeba Ark driver lately, despite their recommendation people update to Tahoe!)

I know. I use a game in Wine on my M1Pro. Its performance did not change with 26.0, 26.1 and 26.2.

I may upgrade to Tahoe on my MBAM1 once Massive X & Komplete FX are compatible (because all I have installed is Logic Pro & NI and Izotope stuff).

My MMProM4 will stay on Sequoia for now.

I have no reason to believe Sequoia is an improvement over Sonoma. The one thing I've noticed is that the Sonoma machine doesn't force me to log in on restart or after diplay sleep. Both Sequoia machines do, same setttings on all, 'never do this'. One Sequoia machine is triggered to think I want Dictation real frequently, I've found no apparent cause in a key command for it. So I don't use a password, it's not an internet machine anyway.

but I'm now loathe to update anything. I hsve one MBA I'm not using for music but it's the one that does what I told it to do.
Both Sequoia ones it was on the machine out of the box. I won't have updated til I had to because of no more security updates.
