sitar VSTi?

I recall seeing and perhaps even downloading a sitar emulator VSTi from a site whose name escapes me now. Of course now that I'm in need of it for an ethno-industrial project, and am looking through my myriad downloaded files, I have no idea where it is or what it was called.
It isn't the Safwan Matni plugs, which I couldn't get to work to save my life. This plug also had programmable paramters. Nor (and this shocks me) is it available through the otherwise fabulous Instrument search here at KVR.
Anybody have any ideas as to where the site might be? IIRC the web site had a happy-sounding name like Shiny Sun or Panama Red.
Thanks in advance.

There was a really nice free sounfontthat had sitar on one part of the keybard and tabla and percussion on the other...
I think I got it here:
http://www.hammersound.net/
...it rocks. Way better than the other sampled sitars I've had.

Know what you mean Radiant City... And now the name escapes me too. I opted for Ethnosphere, but everyone recommended.... Yellow Tools??? Something like Culture and/or Candy? I think I checked these out, but they were HUGELY expensive and large.
But I quite like my Ethnosphere, and it does have a somewhat nice Sitar on it as well I believe. (Not that I'm up on 'sitars') But Knaglis I find intriguing, cause it offers a 'drone' to sustain under melodies and such. Also does a 'right bonny' Bag Pipe too. Or shape it to be Middle Eastern or Asian bagpipes if you'd prefer?
Ravi Shankar and Hagus McHagus tonight in a exclusive engagement!

The SoundFont is Proteus3_Presets_SEC, Program #7, East Indian. It's at SF2MIDI.com in the synth section.

I personally like the Syntar, and since it's a VSTi specially mde just for sitar sounds, you can tweak it beyond a soundfont.

Also check out these soundfonts for some decent sitar sounds:
World Combo.sf2 - "Tamburas" and "East Indian" programs
Indian Ensemble.sf2 - "Sitar" and "Low Sitar" programs
I'm not sure where I found them, but I know they're free.

If you like it I'd suggest going to soundfont.com and buying the bank for their $15 price which is very reasonable.androidlove wrote:The SoundFont is Proteus3_Presets_SEC, Program #7, East Indian. It's at SF2MIDI.com in the synth section.
It may be free at sfmidi but it is stolen from an E-mu bank.
That World combo is from E-mu also.
