SampleTank 4 MAX v2

A Quote from user "Mabian", a couple pages back:
"4) Even in SampleTank 4 some MP2 multis load with "missing sounds" errors, for example the "Full Orchestra Scoring" one."
THIS IS THE PROBLEM I HAD, and that is THE only "multi" I want to use. WTF doesn't it work by now, in 2026?!!
I trashed the Sampletank 3, 4, and MP2 programs and folders trying to fix this (since support left me hanging to dry). Support is just as bad as the installers and corrupt files/presets.
Peter, get your company in line!!!! The general consensus about IK and their installers is dominantly BAD. IK is STILL selling these products (ST4, MP2, Syntronik 1 & 2, etc).

IK multimedia is an Italian company, you would expect quality products. I have been a user of many of their products for over a decade and i can say, their products has certain degree of jank.

Yep, sadly the MP2 multi errors are still there, and the Sampletank "update" 4.2.6 even removed the ability to filter MP2 content (together with Syntronik, but why...): only MP2 CE filter is now available.
I like a lot the quality of sounds and the fact that I can use ST4 mostly reliably in Wine, but the support and general behavior is a tad questionable. Real pity...

Sampletank kept crashing Live on windows 11 for me so the only way to solve the issue was just nuke the entire thing (uninstall everything except t-racks). That was a while ago.
Guess what? 3 weeks ago some t-racks plugins (iirc amplitube, all tape machines & a few others) started crashing too
.
I'm now with a mac mini m4 pro and, so far, smooth sailing with t-racks 6 max.
So yeah, ikm really need to fix this mess, or else people will move on.

Maybe, in this case, the mess is due also to Windows 11. Which, in my opinion, is quite a total mess. That's why I'm also moving away from it.XorXisT wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 12:55 pm Sampletank kept crashing Live on windows 11 for me so the only way to solve the issue was just nuke the entire thing (uninstall everything except t-racks). Windows 11 is a letdown in many ways.
It's insistence of OneDrive inclusion in the framework of main Windows 11 folders IS insidiously detrimental, and very confusing for VST/DAW users.
Anybody can buy a multi-terabyte back-up hard drive for cheap nowadays! Why do we have to be pushed and shoved into dealing with OneDrive controlling and complicating our Windows folders? OneDrive should be OPTIONAL to use, and EASY to turn off.
It reminds me of IK Multimedia selling certain (and fairly expensive) plugins that have unfixed flaws and labrinthian installers from MANY years ago. And EXTREMELY poor support in dealing with those errors and flaws.
It's just bad business practice to alienate, complicate, censor, and ignore your customers.
As for customer support quality, neither company ranks much above "poor".

I have Total Studio MAX 3.5 and don’t mind their products, except reinstalling everything takes forever. That’s even if I skip the Syntronik stuff.
They should create some kind of scripted installer that helps with all that, depending on which products you want to install. It has a million zipped files to extract and install.

Just keep the zipped downloads in a folder, and set the Product Manager download folder to point there.Examigan wrote: Sat Feb 07, 2026 1:49 pm I have Total Studio MAX 3.5 and don’t mind their products, except reinstalling everything takes forever. That’s even if I skip the Syntronik stuff.

Then you can use Product Manager to install and, all files that have been updated will be downloaded while all others will be used directly from the HD to install without downloading them again. Not so bad in my opinion. No need for manual unzipping at all.
And, I like a lot many sounds of SampleTank V2 Max, just my two cents...

Ok thanks, maybe I’ll try that next time if I ever have to do this all again. I’m almost done with it now anyway.

I have no problem at all with the quality of their content, that's why I stick it out with their crappy support and lousy, ridiculously complicated and error prone installations.
Many of their other plugins that don't have samples/content are awesome as well
I've never seen any other company get slagged so badly on the entire internet, and for the above mentioned ^ reasons, they deserve it!
I keep hoping they will fix errors in some of the older plugins that they still sell to people.
And that their installers will somehow rise to the quality of EastWest, Arturia, UJAM, UVI, Toontrack, and Steinberg. Waves has had installs going well for quite a few years now too.
I've had next to zero issues with any of those above companies in the past 10 years. Any problem I had was quickly fixed, and didn't make me feel like I trashed my entire PC software installation.
I guess I will say anything I want about their support now that they have ghosted me in the middle of a ticket. They gave absolutely nothing even remotely close to a solution.
By now I have it figured out to the point where everything works either as best as it can, or it's close enough that I don't notice any issues.
