Richie Beirach passed away today. He was perhaps best known for his work with Dave Liebman and Quest, but also recorded many albums in a trio setting and solo. His work was characterized by a strong reliance on classical compositional technique and strong and adventurous harmonic conception. He was influential as an educator.
He will be missed. R.I.P., Richie.
