Just to remind you, this is the exact scenario that the README thread explains is not actually a reasonable option.
It might seem so but not quite. You all just assuming ( and rightfully so) it is a bad idea, or it has been done , etc. Once he hears it i am sure he will be happy of being a part of it, as we will be making music history, and how often can a person do that?

This tells us absolutely nothing: It gets some MIDI from some input, processes it some way, and sends it to some other instrument to play.

For anyone to determine if they want to work on this idea, they’d have to know what it actually does to figure out how much work it’s going to be and if the result is worth that work. What you need to understand is ideas are a dime a dozen. Figuring out how to turn a desired result into something that actually works is where all the work is. And that’s still only half of it. Testing and troubleshooting and bug fixing is the other half. And it seems like you want to put all of that completely on someone else to figure out, while you do the easy part of merely dictating a desired end result.

But did you complete that analytical chemistry university course that you were once enrolled in?

I get the sense the answer is ‘no’ and that’s the essence of the problem right there.

It tells us the scope of the code is limited to MIDI processing only... however it does not state MIDI 1.0 or 2.0, and that could make a huge difference.

ShredofLight, no one has called your idea a bad one, we do not even know what it is. However, jamcat has made a good point, and that is that at some point you will have to explain your idea, whether the idea is feasible or not, to someone somewhere. This is typically called Consulting. If you think your idea truly needs protection, you should have legal council and NDA agreements.

Like I said before, you are most probably better off sharing your idea, and possibly (no guarantee) having a plugin made for you for free, if someone thinks it is a good idea. NO GUARANTEE, do not share your idea without having talked to a programmer first. What you may gain from your good idea is Brand Recognition, having a name to base future prodcts from. Nothing is guaranteed.

Do not hesitate to ask for donations when you do release a product, free or not.

Now, have you actually asked someone yet? There are a bunch of competent people in this thread already, the JUCE forum has also been mentioned to you as a good way to find people. There's also LinkedIn which could surface a couple of candidates. Or are you waiting for someone to come to you, based on the extremely vague claim of some revolutionary idea without any proof that you actually know what you're talking about?

I mean, it's ok if you don't want to put it out here in public, but if you don't want to do that (which has become clear by now), you simply have to pick someone qualified and get in touch directly. Here's what I'd do:
- Find someone who has the specific skills you need (as it sounds, someone who's made a MIDI plugin before), probably also look for someone who you think might be a nice person
- Ask them for a 1h consulting call to talk your basic idea over
- Offer to pay them for that hour (you might not always have to in the end, but do offer it and be prepared to do so to make clear you're serious)
- Have them sign an NDA

Repeat the process 2-5 times if necessary, what you want is a good professional and personal match for your project.

At the end of those calls, you'll have:
- Proof whether your idea is as exciting as you think
- A rough understanding of the technical feasibility and possible challenges
- Probably an extremely rough indication of effort (not a cost estimate or quote!)
- If your claims are true an excited possible cofounder (or multiple candidates for that role)

It's an investment of a couple hundred bucks at most.

Even if none of those will want to take the risk of co-founding with you, you still have a rough cost and timeline indication you can use for something like an initial one-page business plan. With that you can go to whatever business development authority you have where you live. They can help you flesh out the business plan more and figure out options for funding the venture.

You're very confident in your idea, and you don't need permission from a bunch of strangers in a KVR thread, so go ahead and prove it!

The essence of a problem that you made up. Yes i didn't finish but if you think that is a problem, then that says more about you than about me. But it's ok because that is why i am here, to get to know people. hoping to find the right one.

" And it seems like you want to put all of that completely on someone else to figure out, while you do the easy part of merely dictating a desired end result. "

I said before i will do everything in my capacity and beyond to help making this plugin. It will be a great tool for musicians and it will be the birth of a new system and you assuming i would just dump the end result i wanted, say "cya later and tell me when you get it done" is funny and insulting at the same time. :)

I will tell my idea to him/her when i find him obviously. I searched for a patent lawyer in my area already, that will take care of everything your first paragraph i hope. To be honest the possibility of making this a comunity project has been crossing my mind also by reading some of your messages. I am starting to think that would the best for this plugin. Let's see what happens.

Midi 1 is enough to make it.

I am yet to contact directly someone but i am paying close attention to the messages, there is certainly good people here. You are right a friend and a business partner is what i am hoping to find .There is now a possibility also that i can pitch it directly to an established company. And there is also the community project route. Lets see what the patent lawyer have to say and i will take it from there.

The number of people who turn up here thinking exactly that is the specific reason why the readme exists.
However, its becoming obvious that you're not particularly interested in the best answer to the advice you actually asked for in the OP,
Hello, i have a plugin idea. What are the right steps to take in order to see my plugin realized without any problem?
so I'll leave it at that, its no skin off my nose.

ShredofLight wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 12:30 am The plugin itself it's easy to make for an experient coder. Like i said before we would be writing history since is a new system, an evolution of what we have right now and you bet i have a good sales pitch.
I meant you need a good sales pitch to find the right developer. "We would be writing history" seems extremely naive and is a claim we've all heard before many times. I'm not saying your idea is bad (since I have no idea what it is) but you sound like another delusional idea guy. If you want to find a good developer to work for you for free, that's not the impression you want to give.

Also, you say it's easy to make but a) you're not the right person to judge this since you're not a developer, and b) that actually makes your idea worth a lot less. If it's easy to make, it's easy to copy. In order to make money from this you need to have some kind of advantage over everyone else who is going to copy this. (Being the first is not necessarily an advantage.)

I am reading all posts carefully and there was people here already that gave me good advice. If my claims make you doubt me and insert me in a category of " false claims " than that is your problem and you can certainly keep all your noses skin as far as i am concerned. My original question has been answered already but it evolved to other questions as so is life. As i mentioned before my need changed to find somebody that can believe in me as much i can believe in him and continues evolving, if you are not that person it's ok , no harm no foul. Thank you.

I said exactly as much about your 'claims' as I said about your 'idea'... absolutely nothing.
I am reading all posts carefully
You said that about the readme too.

Ok after some more deep research it turns out that there was already an attempt made and, although doesn't make what i want my plugin to do, i can no more say we will be making history by being the first attempt. i was wrong about that. I am sorry everyone.

Which plugin or product was it?
It runs on my machine! Everything else is undefined behavior.
