I wonder if some of the smaller Companies can raise now and even start pushing out Linux Plug-in versions. It may be their only chance to shine - work hard and get the rewards.

The world is changing fast!
Lets see 2026-27 AI flop, in part... I mean it is clearly visible.
It would be nice. What Linux really needs is deeply sampled real / acoustic instruments.

Absolutely!

"What if the company goes down?"
"Oh, no worries, we'd show some dignity and come up with a solution!"

... wouldn't sound that plausible anymore in case even one of the big players wouldn't follow that premise.

Anyhow, I'll just wait and see.
For the time being, I took the opportunity to look for a Battery alternative (was about time anyway). TAL-Drum seems excellent so far.
Try Apisonic Audio’s Speedrum. :)

The free version looks pretty cool too. :)
I was just checking it out.

That is basically all he can say at this point.

Better than nothing for sure.

Most interesting part of the story is actually; will Dirk do the Steve Jobs move now?

According to his Facebook comments, I doubt it.

What did he say, if you mind to summarize in short.

that was a nothing statement
I believe it’s the only thing he/they are legally allowed to say. They can comment on the day to day operations. They cannot comment on what’s happening with management decisions, restructuring, or financial maneuverings.

Battery is built on the Kontakt engine,so the streaming from HD is something special...

I see that TAL Drum gives you a maximum of 8 layers...

Well..some of the drums that I'm using in Battery have 128 layers (and more if I wanted) and they happily stream from an SSD without a single hiccup...

Battery 4 is a killer drum and percussion player...

The only thing I would like is resizable GUI...

The rest of it is perfect...

Like I said before....there are some great offerings in the NI catalog,so whoever buys the assets are not going to kill them off...

If you kill the chicken, you're not going to get any more eggs
I never used Battery 3, so I don’t know what I’m missing. But I like Battery 4 a lot. It’s not perfect for sure. I hate the file management system and the tagging system is shit. The audio editor and how it requires rendering and a new file is unnecessarily complicated. But otherwise it’s the most powerful MPC style drum sampler I know of. 🤷🏻‍♂️

He doesn't seem too happy about the new owners.
Well, anything is possible after all. You never know.

Thanks! Maybe there is still some hope...
PLEASE HELP! ➡️ Comment below and share! Seeing so many of you being sad / mad on social media about what's happening at NI (incl. PA & BX) makes me lose sleep right now. I have just reached out to the current owners of PA/BX and offered my help - again.

Already on it. TAL-Drum has better in-context-preview and apparently you can't export a corresponding MIDI file from sliced loops in Speedrum - both of these features are pretty much what I want.
But otherwise it's possibly a tie. TAL-Drum has assignable modulations and great envelopes (Speedrum doesn't), Speedrum has built in delay and reverb which is handy, UI looks somewhat better in Speedrum but allows for less detailed manipulation - etc.

I would also check Wave Alchemy Triaz, while it's on sale or so.
Tons of sounds and a lot of sound tweaking capability.

Checked already, not enough channels/pads/cells.
