Anyone else noticed the increase of Vibe coded plugins flooding the market?

Vibe coding is coding where you fully trust AI and don't even read the code and just follow the vibes. The term was coined by Andrej Karpathy, a leading AI researcher. It speeds up development, but there are still concerns about code quality, security, and long-term maintainability. Lovable is solving these challenges by making AI-generated code more reliable, secure, and production-ready. https://lovable.dev/blog/what-is-vibe-coding
Not necessarily a bad thing, as a huge potential of new creators are now entering the scene. Basically a technical skilled producer with some golden ears can now prompt out his ideas without or lets say very little coding experience. Which of course might cause a vast amount of junk just flooding the market with more nonsense in the next years. In the end all of this will still need some proper debugging and updates, which might be the stumbling block for some.

So you can get your AI to write the songs and write the plugins? Excellent. When can it do the washing and washing up for me?

Post

How can you know that some of them arent already in your plugin folder. Can you be sure?

Going a bit more in depth on the prompting aspect.

So, there isn't actually a flood of vibe-coded plugins flooding the market. At least not relative to everything else.

Post

The question was did anyone notice the increase... which me actually did! Right here on kvr recently. Anyone else?

well, there used to be absolutely none whatsoever, and now there is a very small handful.

which is an increase, obviously, even though its a statistically insignificant number compared to the number of new plugins in general.

(those ive noticed tend to be effects, which i suspect may say something about the available code out there for AIs to reuse, compared to, say, the number of basic synths that synthedit spawned in its heyday. )

The ones I notices are also effects (for now) and noticed some commits on github that are actually co-authored by claude etc.

A veritable flood.

I'm now off to boil an ocean of water for a planet's worth of tea.

It's Synthedit days again.

Post

Not sure if it's happening or not, but I (and I'm sure not the only one) predicted it last year to start happening by the end of this year.

...with even higher CPU/RAM demands and more bugs. But considering how crappy operating systems became (including Linux) it doesn't make much of a difference anymore what causes your computer to crash.

I tried AI coding VSTs. It's not fun. It leaves out stuff plus you still have to download all the SDK stuff from Steinberg,

Can't say I've noticed, but I'm also quite unlikely to have a clue how to know what's AI-written. Although it's fkn obvious with all the AI derived YT video slop - weirdly they're incredibly easy to spot (and getting more prevalent) and also have the most views, in the millions. It's almost a clue for spotting them - if it's 2 million or more, it's probably AI slop.

Which says more to me about the audience than the content.

There's not that much reason why a music/music-maker base won't be the same. So the AI plugins will probably be shite, yet become very popular. And we all know how the music is going to turn out (is turning out). TBH I don't buy that many plugins, generally curate the quality ones rather than just collect everything, so I don't have that much skin in the game. If you all want to buy slop...go for it.

Pretty soon AI bots will be coding AI plugins to make AI music to stream on Spotify so that cryptocurrency can change hands so that ...lol

Don't worry this Universe is just a hologram

Name some names. What are some examples of vibe coded plugins? Genuinely curious.
