I am sorry everyone.
Hey man, do not worry or apologise.
Too many of use end up at this point, thinking we have original ideas! At least when you have your next idea you'll have a better idea of how to approach it, and what the guys/gals you employ to build it expect from you.

And yeah by the way, what was the product, if it's already been done?

Just curious: Is there a thread where users can just dump plugin ideas? I might have a few. I would give them away for free with detailed descriptions, including how to replicate functions using freeware plugins so everyone can test stuff themselves to see if it would be worth the effort.

It has not been done per se, but is a similar concept as the hermode tuning.

Somehow the old hermode tuning escaped my grasp till now and i even use cubase, i am so ashamed. It was a hard blow not gonna lie but my plugin idea still holds as a way better system and wider in scope.

Note that Hermode Tuning has been widely adopted in a bunch of products (Logic, Waldorf and Access synths), but it remains a niche feature that only few ever use. The thing is, having a way to achieve pure-ish tuning on normally equal temperament tuned instruments can actually sound quite nasty, for example with synth sounds. You often want some detuning and beating (see hypersaw, unison, chorus). Tuning all instruments purely does not automatically improve the music, let alone revolutionize it.

It's one of those things that sound like a big deal first, but seem pretty small after contact with reality.

3. Forget it and it may happen anyway if it's a got idea.
So the best is to pay some one to do it or dream on and die with it in the grave and still have hope
Thank you for your honest reply. Unfortunately i don't have 200 000 euro and even if i had i could be giving it to the wrong person. If i say everything out loud i am afraid of somebody will steal the idea. I guess i am just trying to find a person that i can trust
Ideas are generally worthless. You can't even patent an idea. It's got to be a detailed implementation of the idea. Your post reminds me of my brother telling me he had a great idea for a product. It would be a universal translator pendant that people could wear and it would translate any language into your prefered language. I asked him how far along with the software he was, and he looked at me as if I was crazy. It would be like me suing Novation for making the Peak after I basically described it in a thread. I know! I've got an idea! World peace! If it happens, it's because they took my idea!

So, you'd basically have to come up with a very detailed design and get it into a min spec doc, and hire a developer to work on it. It's going to be a lot of work, even if the plugin is simple. Your better bet is to make it public and see if a developer takes the idea and maybe cuts you in as a product designer.

Life itself is a problem. Good luck.

Yes i agree but we can tweak it. Specific degrees that you change have specific impact.

Yes, been looking for something like this for ages and never got results of anything close to the point i thought it was an original idea and called it dynamic tunning system myself. And then a couple of days after getting the courage to talk about it and make it happen, i discover the main concept of dynamic tunning already exists and was tried. My plugin can be way better though, already have a cool name for it, " The purifier" :)

I have a cool plugin idea as well. I don't want to make money, I just want to see it realized. What I'm looking for is a physical model of an anus to create realistic fart sounds. I also already have a cool name: "The Embechour." We can take that idea and extend it into a modular environment to build specialized related sounds. I have a cool name for that as well: "StinkEdit."

I think that we need a thread for cool plugin names. Maybe here was one at one point. Dibs on StinkEdit.

Nah.

May I ask, what is the hermode tuning or the plugin idea adding, in simple terms for (the slightly confused) musician (me)?
Could I instead change the root key or the name or custom cents setting of the tuning very often (sending midi...) and get the same (comparable..) result, or would the cents values not the best numbers for this hermode thing? (which I don't understand)
It did occur to me once that I needed to change the root key (0..11) more often than it was feasible when composing music, when I used tuning on piano sounds in a hardware synth (you know, they provide some settings like this and you send the needed midi bytes), and then I basically decided to forget about the whole thing and trust that randomness in general would make some effects on my music, too. That mindset may be ignorance, I guess, coming from the problem that changing the settings seemed to be too much work. Is that what the plugin might solve for me?
