Absolutely, you are right, but my idea would allow the tunning of all 12 notes independently with different temperaments, assign modulators to the tone drift , remove all the tone drift, You can make for example only the 7th degree be the barbershop seventh and the rest well tempered and so on .And then there is the audio component too, Despite not being what i thought it was, it's still decent. Tomorrow might not be though by the look of thingshugoderwolf wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 8:37 pm Note that Hermode Tuning has been widely adopted in a bunch of products (Logic, Waldorf and Access synths), but it remains a niche feature that only few ever use. The thing is, having a way to achieve pure-ish tuning on normally equal temperament tuned instruments can actually sound quite nasty, for example with synth sounds. You often want some detuning and beating (see hypersaw, unison, chorus). Tuning all instruments purely does not automatically improve the music, let alone revolutionize it.
It's one of those things that sound like a big deal first, but seem pretty small after contact with reality.
Plugin idea

I tried the hermode cubase integration and it makes the 3rds , 3rds and 5ths and 3rds ,5ths and 7ths a pure ratio dependent of your bass note is and it uses some algorithms to calculate chord structure and calculate tunning based on the chord structure.v4p0r wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 1:19 am Nah.
May I ask, what is the hermode tuning or the plugin idea adding, in simple terms for (the slightly confused) musician (me)?
Could I instead change the root key or the name or custom cents setting of the tuning very often (sending midi...) and get the same (comparable..) result, or would the cents values not the best numbers for this hermode thing? (which I don't understand)
It did occur to me once that I needed to change the root key (0..11) more often than it was feasible when composing music, when I used tuning on piano sounds in a hardware synth (you know, they provide some settings like this and you send the needed midi bytes), and then I basically decided to forget about the whole thing and trust that randomness in general would make some effects on my music, too. That mindset may be ignorance, I guess, coming from the problem that changing the settings seemed to be too much work. Is that what the plugin might solve for me?

I simply had the issue that 'just' or 'werkmeister' sounded wrong when chords were not staying matching with the tuning's root-key-setting, and I wanted to be free to change the key of my music whenever I wanted. I'm unsure how the plugin or cubase (have only an essential version) would teach me how to control what I might get as a result. My workflow was usually to try settings that are not too many or too complex, and then listen.

You can't do that with hermode,v4p0r wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 2:21 am I simply had the issue that 'just' or 'werkmeister' sounded wrong when chords were not staying matching with the tuning's root-key-setting, and I wanted to be free to change the key of my music whenever I wanted. I prepared a short pitch brief for my product. Feel free to borrow concepts from this for your own ideas. With a high quality video like this, you might be able to attract the right kind of attention for your project.ShredofLight wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 12:55 amYes i deserve it, i am expecting a few clowns, till now just you show up and and your performance stank pun intended.ghettosynth wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 12:38 am I have a cool plugin idea as well. I don't want to make money, I just want to see it realized. What I'm looking for is a physical model of an anus to create realistic fart sounds. I also already have a cool name: "The Embechour." We can take that idea and extend it into a modular environment to build specialized related sounds. I have a cool name for that as well: "StinkEdit."
I think that we need a thread for cool plugin names. Maybe here was one at one point. Dibs on StinkEdit.

I'm very sorry to disappoint you, but your idea is also not as innovative and groundbreaking as you thought it might be:ghettosynth wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 12:38 am I have a cool plugin idea as well [...] What I'm looking for is a physical model of an anus to create realistic fart sounds.

I'm personally missing a Dry/Wet control, though. Maybe I should file a feature request.

Not that I'm aware of, but I may just have missed it. But if there isn't any yet, we should totally create one!Zeisner wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 6:00 pm Just curious: Is there a thread where users can just dump plugin ideas? I might have a few. I would give them away for free with detailed descriptions, including how to replicate functions using freeware plugins so everyone can test stuff themselves to see if it would be worth the effort.
There is this recent thread, though: viewtopic.php?t=627069 which is about one particular (rather good) idea. And a while ago there was also this one which I found very interesting: viewtopic.php?t=608320 It would indeed be nice to have a thread that can serve as a central hub to collect all sorts of ideas. It could then possibly link to more specific threads that flesh out a particular idea in more detail.

I am grateful to everybody, unfortunately my ideia is text book read.me : ) It was an idea i had since childhood and i searched for it so baddly and i failed to notice that was already made. I honestly thought it was a new thing and i am sorry i tried for you guys to believe me, now i can never come up with a plugin ever again even if i have the best idea of all time : ) . I will let you guys keep making those awesome plugins and i will try to play them the best i can. : ) Thank you all again

Ours is science though. There's more to it, but I can't really talk about it here. If you want to get in on the ground floor, let me know and I'll have my team get an NDA out to you.Music Engineer wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 4:48 amI'm very sorry to disappoint you, but your idea is also not as innovative and groundbreaking as you thought it might be:ghettosynth wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 12:38 am I have a cool plugin idea as well [...] What I'm looking for is a physical model of an anus to create realistic fart sounds.

Don't be disappointed. This happens over and over, and I think discovering that you're not the only one having an idea is actually a good sign, it's validation. And information! For example, you can look at those products now and think about why not everyone is using it, and whether there is something to be done better or different. It will help you understand the problem you're trying to solve better.ShredofLight wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 6:01 am I honestly thought it was a new thing and i am sorry i tried for you guys to believe me, now i can never come up with a plugin ever again even if i have the best idea of all time : )
I myself discovered during the beta phase of Dynamic Grading that I might have accidentally made a "clone" of a discontinued product I had never seen before (a beta tester pointed me to it). On the one hand that was a bit demoralizing at first, but it validated the idea and helped me sharpen my own approach (which is quite different from the discontinued one, even if they look similar at first).
I guess many here have similar stories to tell. Those exciting ideas that keep you awake at night for days and weeks, and then when you try to actually build it you discover that it either already exists in a similar (not equal!) form or that it simply doesn't survive contact with reality. That's why you always need to build and prove ideas before you can judge whether it's worth anything.

I wanted to tell the forum at one time how I hacked together something, and later there was this much more elegant solution from guys who know what they do. Had I posted about my code, I would have shown not to understand math or to avoid it like the plague, which would have embarrassed me. Not to speak about all the (accessibility focused) GUIs that went into the trash can.

Mr Hugo thank you for your kindness. You are a great guy and i ended up finding the trustful person i was looking for. My heart was broken. Luckily nobody else wasted their time with this but me. My idea might have been good when i had it but i let it to much time in the backburner and now trying to make up for the lost time i didn't do proper research. I think i still have an answer for a more " stable" dynamic tuning that could rival the standard tuning but at this point would be just a patch on the existent software. But What doesn't kill us makes us stronger and maybe we can collaborate on other thing in the future. We have such talented people with ideas here that now looking back i don't know what i was thinking to be honest.hugoderwolf wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 8:39 amDon't be disappointed.
