This is certainly a thing to keep in mind, even quite a few Motu's are running fine on Linux.Scrubbing Monkeys wrote: Fri Jan 16, 2026 2:42 am Using Win 10 for now. I would have switched to linux if my Motu Ultralite mk3 would play nice. It is not class compliant.

The poll runs until Feb 5th, so please vote if you haven’t already done so.

That's good to know. Thank you. Your input is always appreciated.audiojunkie wrote: Fri Jan 16, 2026 3:55 pmBummer. At least you will know to look for class compliance in your next audio interface purchase.Scrubbing Monkeys wrote: Fri Jan 16, 2026 2:42 am Using Win 10 for now. Here's another tip about audio interfaces. Since Linux usually can't access built-in DSP and software features (since companies still aren't providing Linux software for their hardware), it is best to look for an audio device that has all of the options as physical controls on the device. If the physical controls are on the device and you don't need to use software to access them, then the device should work fine with Linux as long as it is class compliant.![]()
Annnd +1 for Linux. I am (finally) seriously doing the ground work for installing Linux Mint on a new workstation I'm building. And possibly my internet machine as well. My use of Windows apps is actually quite minimal, but significant to me. Predominantly file explorer, notepad, and 'paint' for cropping screen grabs, and task manager when needed. I will be keeping a couple of networked Win-10 (audio/video/3D/graphics/photo) processing/editing machines offline, to avoid the 'update' snaffoos, as I have no desire or intention of using Windows 11. Not to be 'cliche' but, I AM way "too old for this" Microsoft crap.

The results are looking good. It appears that Linux usage went up by 4% between last year and this year.

Linux dropped one percentage point to 13%. That’s still not too bad. There are some poll is still open, until Feb 5th, so there is still time to vote, if you haven’t already done so!

Is it similar to the last one?

The percentage went up 3% from last year. Even though the original poll was lost, there were still a lot of votes done. This still gets a pretty good representation of the changes from last year, and it matches what I've personally been seeing. I've noticed more Linux users every year that passes, and this past year has been the most Linux users on KVR that I've seen. So this has turned out to be a good thing. Thank you for setting up the poll again. I was so disheartened at the time that the original poll for this year got deleted, I didn't have the desire to bother setting another one up again.
Each year is lessons learned. I think we've got the format for the poll down pretty well. We'll just have to try to be careful not to spam other forums here. We'll get less user responses, but hopefully enough to still be useful. At this point, we are good until Dec/Jan for the next poll (2027).
Thank you for your help!!

Welcome!
I have also noticed a small increase in people getting more interested with Linux. My thesis was that this could happen with Windows 11 being introduced. It should only be a matter of time and more developers jumping on the train, for Linux to become a more prominent player, or at least valid option in the music field. We have seen quite a few recent add-ons, plus some more unexpected surprises, so the List is steady growing already.
Next year is on you then, brother.
