Agreed, and in general there are too many companies fighting for a limited number of potential subscription revenue...it won't end well for all!VitaminD wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 6:39 pm ^ also a reason for the current push (in general) to get everyone on subscriptions.

Not sure what using Microsoft, Google, or Apple has to do with the current situation at NI either especially as the products for sale at NI, PA, and BWX require Microsoft and/or Apple products to work and always haveEl°HYM wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 6:09 pm Kind of silly to put bold arguments against good old Dirk while still using Microsoft, Apple & Google. If he manages to rescue some of the pile of shards, that should certainly be better than your beloved c/r server being shut off forever.
If you think Dirk is the answer, awesome but he also relies on Microsoft and Apple and his products are developed to work inside of those platforms
Native Instruments, Plugin Alliance, and Brainworx wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Apple, Microsoft and Google.

Why do you now sound like a brainwashed consumerist.

I suspect to see more buyouts, mergers, and closings in the market. The big companies. Or at least job cuts. Those ones have huge overhead from large staff counts. I think the smaller dev houses will survive, so long as they have unique, high quality products. They're "right sized" to endure.SLiC wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 6:44 pmAgreed, and in general there are too many companies fighting for a limited number of potential subscription revenue...it won't end well for all!VitaminD wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 6:39 pm ^ also a reason for the current push (in general) to get everyone on subscriptions.

I always think about the time he charged a $15 'migration fee' when PA bought the Dmitri Sches catalogue. Reluctantly paid PA and swiftly got all the necessary details from, uhhh, Dmitri's personal email address. Absolute vulture.DCrown wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 4:53 am Dirk Ulrich knows how to make money, that seems to be all that matters to him and it is legit in capitalism. So many times I could read how rich he is and he pushed 30 USD/plugin sales, I mean PA had sales the whole year.

Valhalla reverb series, Eventide Blackhole, Arturia, 112dB Redline Reverb, FabFilter Pro-R, LiquidSonics, and even more. Raum is fun but far from irreplaceable.legendCNCD wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 12:27 pm
Now Raum is a different one, nothing quite sounds like it.
Just thinking out loud, if those two need to be replaced grr...

Once they own everything, you will not be upset. You too will be an Apple Zealot. There shall be no other options.

If Apple does buy it, they shouldn't be idiots this time and keep a Windows version going. They should have done that with Camel, but all they had at that point was Garageband. But now, they are flush with cash, so....
