Hey everyone,
I’m an audio programmer, and I’ve been releasing a few audio tools/plugins recently. Soon, I’m planning to design some 220px fixed-height rack-style plugins, mainly aimed at Ableton Live and Bitwig users.

I’d love to get your input: What kind of plugin skin color do you prefer in your day-to-day workflow?

Thanks a lot!
Hakan

Don't really care for the skin colour if its not too garish or vomit alike. If you plan to do Ableton instrument which sits in the plugin row, I'd use host colours first :)
Soft Knees - Live 12, Diva, Omnisphere, Slate Digital VSX, TDR, Kush Audio, U-He, PA, Valhalla, Fuse, Pulsar AUDIO, NI, OekSound etc. on Win11Pro R7950X & RME AiO Pro

What do you mean by this? Why 220px?

I personally don't care for skeuomorphic designs. The overwhelming majority of the plugins I use have dark backgrounds and good visual feedback - TB Impress & TBPAclip, FF ProQ, Minimal Audio, Serum, Nexus 5, Shaperbox, etc.

Ableton and Bitwig have their rack row on bottom side. It is around 220px height. Some users extensively use that part. They keep some plugins active there in front of their eyes. So, size and skin colour become important for the contrast and balance in case of working long hours.

Thank so much for giving examples. I will have a look.
