I'm looking for a simple hub to expand my usb outputs from my PC

I need it to connect type a to type b ( pc to synth) to send midi (no power)

Have usb 2 and 3 on pc to connect hub to.

Some description seem confusing, saying they are for power only, not data

Any recommendations please?

Must be on amazon.

May not suit because its powered, but I run a couple of MIDI controllers etc through one of these

I use sweetwater recommended powered startech st7300u3m hubs, and they can be stacked without issue.
I power both of them so that the stacked hub doesnt draw too much from the main hub. I dont have any trouble with devices that are USB powered + devices that need both data and power. Only limitation is the USB root hub's 256 device limit (I think its 256), in terms of stacking.

I have used this in a scenario where the first hub is 100% full, and the second hub has about half ports full. No errors, ground loops, disconnects, etc, on win10, 11.

Today there are two mutually exclusive types of USB port in a hub, data and power. The power-through type pretty much has to get power from the wall outlet. I always had trouble running more than one controller from a non-powered hub.

I use an Anker hub with power-pass through because there's not enough ports in my MBA; one has to be the Audio Interface, which won't use a hub at all. So it's doing that, an Nve SSD and powering a display monitor, an older key controller and an iLok key. This has only the one USB-C DATA port, it's about 30 bucks currently at Amazon. Anker's a good brand IME. If the ad copy isn't explicit per a data port but mentions power, I'd avoid.

Small and rugged, can be optionally externally powered. Works well in my setup, even cascaded (I bought 5 of these). Supposedly MTT but I haven't really verified that.

Amazon only might limit your choices though.
