I'm not sure what this is all about, exactly, but Microsoft seems excited about it -

Windows MIDI Services

You'll have to scroll down a bit to find it. I'm not in the Beta Channel, I only see pre-release builds, so I don't have any of it. I assume it's more for devs that users.

New features in this release include:

Full support for WinMM MIDI 1.0 and WinRT MIDI 1.0, complete with in-service translation, enabling any API to use any MIDI 1.0 or MIDI 2.0 device.

This means your existing applications will use the new service and gain important new features like the ability for more than one app to open a MIDI port at the same time, custom port names, and more.

New loopback and app-to-app MIDI support.

Been following that also. There's also an upcoming patchbay for routing. I'm also interested in the upcoming asio and hopefully this will be multi-client.
Stuck in Aperture Laboratories for a 2nd time!

Yes, multi client will be the game changer…great to see MS giving pro audio some attention.

Windows MIDI Services started rolling out into retail Windows 11 24h2 and 25h2 last week. It takes 30 days to reach all customers (we enable in phases). It's a two-phase rollout. First you install the KB update to get the actual bits. Then, during the 30 days, your install will be enabled and switched over to those new bits.

After you install the KB update via Windows Update, if you want to check to see if you have the new stack enabled, use the tool currently available at https://aka.ms/midi

After a standard and automatic update to windows 11 build 26200.7840 my soundcard ports disappeared (old creamware sonic-core system, always worked well)

I learnt that this windows 11 update added (?!?!) new MIDI functionalities, but I honestly can't figure out how to access or configure them.

Does anyone has some experience with this new MIDI in windows 11???

thanks, appreciated! :)

i replied there, too

I killed the midisrv.exe process after "ctrl-alt-canc", closed midiox and Scope and everything worked fine after this
I tried to disable the midisrv service from windows startup but, without this service, nothing works.
will keep you informed about other tests

I found my MIDI ports reappeared after restarting my machine.
