This is awesome. I've never used Shortcircuit before and it's by and large easy to find my way around.
Minor note: In the string resonator, stereo section, Pan 2 reads Pan 1 in the main ui. It is correct in the floating mouseover panel.

Question 1: can I unlink velocity from amplitude? Can't find it.

Question 2: can I turn off Keytracking for the sample but still use it for the resonators? Can't work that out.

Question 3: can I lock sample length and only have the pitch change over the keyboard range?

Love the fx, the routing, the modulation/macros. Very nice, cheers.

Edit: found velocity sensitivity, in the Groups tab, Routing section.

Request: Envelope follower for a mod source?

Request: copy and paste fx slots

Request: more chords for the Tetrad resonator...it's awesome

Hmmm?: adding Tetrad Resonator to a group is broken??? or different behaviour at least, more uncontrolled sounding

Bug?: closing the UI and reopening causes the browser to reset, I have to renavigate to the folder I was at.

Browser volume adjustment only takes effect the next time I audition a sample.

Such a cool plugin. Thanks again to all involved.

Good questions thanks.

1: Yeah as you noticed, overall velocity sensitivity is in the groups routing/output section (and applies to all zones in that group). You may also be interested in knowing that you can normalize sample levels. Which makes it easier to get predictable outcomes if you're using velocity-layered zones.

2: No so far there's no per-variant keytrack level, only for the zone as a whole which as you noticed affects processors too. I've thought about that too and agree this would be useful for the resonators etc, so consider the feature request noted!

3: I expect this will come up a lot: This would require timestretching which we do not have. There are a few open-source timestretching libraries which we have considered. But we won't implement them before 1.0, it'll come in some future update.

Env follower modulator is on my list. We have the code already in the compressor, just not factored out and brought into the modulators. It'll come sometime.

Copy and Paste FX slots is a good idea. I made an issue for it.

The criteria I set for the Tetrad res chords are:
- Exactly 4 notes
- All of them inside the octave (so I can maybe add spread-voicings as an option later)
- Only one Just Intonation version of each Tempered chord (would otherwise be easy to put in IDK 4 different JI min7 chords which would all sound the same in 12-tet).

What other chords would you like given that? I have a hard time thinking of ones I'd really want that aren't already inversions of ones we have.

The reason it sounds weird on groups is probably just that groups apply to the stereo sum of the zones, and therefore doesn't keytrack. A long while ago we discussed maybe adding keytracking to the group procs (and figure out how to deal with low/high priority etc). It's not the highest priority right now but we'll see!

Browser not remembering its prior position is logged I think.

Glad you like it!

@andreya - let’s make sure to put the GitHub links as we open them for user feedback here.

What a great first 16 hours of reception! Fun!

And ftr (all at https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/sh ... -xt/issues)

- Browser position remembered: https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/sh ... ssues/2070
- Browser volume snapped at note on: https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/sh ... ssues/2146
- Env follower (and the audio modulator source panel generally): https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/sh ... ssues/1279
- Copy and Paste FX slots: https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/sh ... ssues/2145 (although I implemented this one just now so this one will be closed in 30 minutes)

Thank you surge team

Whats the workflow for adding multiple samples.

Is there any any shortcuts for editing values on multiple samples?

Can you drop multiple samples spread over a range & not be overlapped?

Post

Yes you can just drop multiple samples in and while you're holding the drag you can move mouse up/down while hovering above the mapping editor and the spread of samples changes, like in Kontakt or Falcon.

EDIT: Brainfart, you can't do this... yet. But in final 1.0 or a bit before it, you will likely be able to :)

Select multiple in the browser or i your ui and drag them in. Or drag multiple onto the variant + pane

Yes. Just select the zones and the edits will should apply to multiple. If they don't its (probably) a bug or incomplete feature

Currently no. A single drop places all in the same range. You can, if you drop from an SFZ, Multisample, SF2, or GIG, drop an entire instrument which will lay out properly.

Didn't you implement the Kontakt thing where as you drag in a group of samples up above mapping view that splits get progressively wider, and if you move down they get narrower until it ends up in single key velocity splits? I vaguely remember we have that... Or I simply misremember.

I think what would be definetely cool for Shortcircuit XT and Surge XT (or realy any vst) would be an automatic limiter. That would save so much head ache sometimes...

Even better is using a host which does that automatically :)

We have not.

Well darn it! That'd be a pretty big UX boost.

Surge has an adjustable hardclip at the end of chain. Shortcircuit right now does not.

But even in that cases, the advice stands.A spike into an 18db threshold handclip is still bad for those in ear headphones. And also, what if we get our auto-limiter wrong! :)

Of course you can do what you see fit, but when i am doing dsp dev i do my first play with my in ear headphones around my neck not on my ears!
