Are there interesting play modes at all? Like stretch or anything?

Do you mean stretch to tempo? That's easily achievable by pitching up/down. There's no timestretching algo right now.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sat Jan 31, 2026 10:11 pm Are there interesting play modes at all? Like stretch or anything?
Slicing is also on sight, it was present on Shortcircuit 1, but right now is yet to be implemented.

Time stretching is not going to be in 1.0, that's for a subsequent update. Slicing as well.

If your sample has slices in it, the loader will read that and you can use those as snap points for loops, start, end etc.... You also have the ability to do limited playhead control with the mod matrix
but yeah full slicing workflow not for first version here. Unless someone here wants to do some fun dev work this winter!

Any chance of having 80%-90% resize options? 100% is (slightly) too big for my laptop and 75% requires the use of binoculars.

Yeah tossed in a GitHub issue 2154 and I’ll get it in a sweep next day or twoCuauhtli wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 12:09 am Any chance of having 80%-90% resize options? 100% is (slightly) too big for my laptop and 75% requires the use of binoculars.

No wasn't talking about tempo, was just referring to the repitch modes. Changing pitch without changing sample length.wikter wrote: Sat Jan 31, 2026 10:17 pmDo you mean stretch to tempo? changing pitch without changing length is a different form of time stretching and still yeah that's not in the synth.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 2:08 amNo wasn't talking about tempo, was just referring to the repitch modes. There is an interesting processor which applies a constant frequency pitch shift, but that's more a make-an-interesting-sound effect not a rep itch.

It's not really different though. Changing pitch and length independently is timestretch. Change length without changing pitch or change pitch/tune without changing length. I don't think I've ever seen one without the other in a sample with timestretch.baconpaul wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 2:22 amchanging pitch without changing length is a different form of time stretching and still yeah that's not in the synth.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 2:08 amNo wasn't talking about tempo, was just referring to the repitch modes. Sounds cool. I like Time stretch for two things primarily. One is if you sample a sound that has a slight rhythmic component like envelope or modulation and you want to keep it the same length when you play on the keyboard (I usually do). And the other is for cool effects when you really slow something down. It's especially fun if it has vintage artifacts like Tal Sampler. Abletons Impulse is another that comes to mind.baconpaul wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 2:22 am There is an interesting processor which applies a constant frequency pitch shift, but that's more a make-an-interesting-sound effect not a rep itch.

OK folks as we go through the beta period we are getting lots of feedback so will have pretty frequent iterations.
We're gonna try and keep a beta changelog running which we update every few days so I won't post every fix here. You can read it https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/sh ... nt-Updates
But day one changes (which will be in the Nightly when a build finishes in about an hour from now, around 11:30 pm US Eastern) are
- Dropping multiple samples into the mapping area spaces them rather than stacks them
- Add copy/paste gesture to Processors in the 'hamburger' menu
- Fix a windows installer problem which could give an out of memory when installing
- Fix a problem with the VST3 folder layout which in some cases caused Ableton 12 to not recognize the plugin
- Add zoom levels 80, 90, and 110

I swear when I typed this I meant to type "is just a different form of....". English is funny and if you add the just its clear we agree - because you are correct!Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 2:47 amIt's not really different though. My sentence is really weirdly ambiguous.
Anyway yeah it's the same software just in a different dimension.
And its still not in the synth

A huge thanks to the crew for releasing this!
