(Kylen), what you cannot do is repeatedly use AAMS over and over on the same track. It just doesn't work that way.

I can tell you why but only shortly, AAMS is designed to do this in one GO! All programming inside is doing calculations to do this in one step, in -> out. You can recheck your master or mix or single tracks tough, do that about once or twice times.

For checking reasons you could try 10x repeated mastering, but all you get is a flat responce in your music nobody likes.... You will notice that the source will never meet the reference line! (Spectrum display) try it. This is because the reference style is setup out of multiple tracks and a special calculation of AAMS processing.

Think of it this way, AAMS is correcting the angle of the spectrum towards the reference, so if the angle is not 0 or 180 degrees , but 10 or 170 degrees, AAMS will calculate the offset and corrects it until it meets the reference requirements. So it will push 170 + 10 (aams suggestion) = 180 degrees (10 - 10 (aams suggestion) = 0 degrees...

(your unified preset template for all plugins would be a really nice idea though!)

OK - sounds good, I'll remember that!

BTW I contacted Aleksey at Voxengo and he is interested in hearing more about your plans, interface, dependencies, and deliverables you would require - I kinda paraphrased that but I assume that would happen if you folks persue this together. It's very cool of you to attempt this open-ness since that's one of the things KVR and VST interface represent in the first place.

Please contact him via email at info@voxengo.com

I just like the idea of a tool that can help characterize where a piece of audio is, compare it to where I want it to go, and quantify possible changes I could make with common audio processors (like the ones I own and have already learned - as well as new ones).

If a standardized template or data structure would help that along to bridge interface issues then let's get it done in 2005 so we can get the ball rolling! This thing is gonna happen sooner or later and in many different ways I'm very sure! 8)

Possibly you could create a thread in the developer forum here too at KVR - maybe there's already some ideas about such interfaces - or an existing data structure.

 Lets wait and see, what happens in time...
Lets see what Alexsey has to say..

A funny story over here;

There are a few things i have noticed.
Yesterday i tried to import an old tape.
The frequencies go as for as 16Khz and then they cut off. Like tape does. AAMS was correct on the base and mids, but as there was no high frequency content from the tape, AAMS suggested a 10 db boost from 16Khz to 20Khz! Offcousre all i got was large hissing noises and white / tape noise! The suggestion of AAMS was accurate , but there was no high frequency content in the first place! Watch out for this.

Think somebody has to make a TAPE Style preset!

AAMS V1.1 will be out at the end of this month (Januari 2005).
I cannot state the buglist or revisions yet, but i am listening to users replies that come in.
Also the installer versions A+B will be made into one installer. As it is supposed to be.

When you have bugs, errors, revisions, questions or anything. Use email@curioza.com and i will look into it. Please state your machine and prob. and define them well... I dont answer single lined emails.. I do answer the rest :P

Here is what I get, no updates, says its completed OK then this....

failed to load control "MSFlexGrid" from MSFLEXGRD.OCX. Your version may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your app.

I'm using Win2000 SP1 on a P3 700 640mb ram, Dell Dimension XPS T700r. Any thoughts? Would like to try it out....[/img]

Yep, could be.
You have an app that is using this OCX.
Check your computer and search for the OCX file, do a full search.
Check if the ocx files that come in c:\program files\aams are different then the ones in c:\windows\system or c:\windows\system32
If so, backup all these ocx files, then find the newest ones and copy them to the windows directorys.
Or (this would be unlikely) copy them to the AAMS directory...
Also it could be you are running windows ME without maintenance, just use windows update if you can..

It just kept saying it updated, but it did not add ANY new files to my system32 folder. So I went to the AAMS folder and copied all the .dll's to the system32 folder, reboot, and it works fine and is a blast to use. Replacing the out dated .dll's when prompted did not affect my machine in the least. Everything runs as well as before. (Win2000, SP1, P3 700, 684ram)

I tried it using the 20band eq in Sound Forge and it was OK, but using the Firium EQ is the bomb! I save the readouts in the Firium format, making sure to name them the title of the song, and then run the song thru the EQ. It's been a great learning exp. I think I like this program.... :hihi:
