It’s not ready for prime time. I’ll wait for a couple of updates before I install it.
All that M-Power goodness, and that was the best they could do???
Am considering Cubase. This machine could handle it, whereas my old i7 4 ghz iMac couldn’t.

Why they did that, I have no clue.
Session player loops also contain the session player's settings, MIDI loops don't (just the instrument settings). So in the end, that's a win. And if you want them to be just MIDI, a quick conversion sorts that.

So I copied it to an SSD that I always have connected, made a symlink, erased the Bundle in the Music folder and replaced it with the symlink.

Logic put up a few brief error messages while it was indexing the bundle in its new location and then shut up and behaved. After a restart, too.

The symlink route is not needed anymore with Logic 12 now that the entire Library is a consolidated bundle. You just move that file to your external drive, open Logic, it will then ask you to locate the file and that’s it done.

If you want to hear a full blown dance track go here. I have not laughed so hard lately :D

It is right at the beginning

This is why I'm not worried about these player AI tools in Logic Pro X. Sure some will use them and naively think they will get millions of streams.

Finally got the update on the existing app in the app store. All good, I guess it just took a day or two to propagate to everyone.

I updated for the Chord ID feature, which I think is pretty good and useful.

The update process went smoothly and everything was intact as before, no problems.

Dammit! The iPad remote app wants me to update to the plastic toy version of iOS just to use it now

Now I have upgraded it still says 'The version of Logic Remote on iPad needs to be updated to be compatible with this version of Logic Pro' wtf?

Maybe they're just not done with a suitable version yet.

Anyhow, the entire update is pretty miserable IMO. Absolutely lackluster and the new library organisation sucks (apart from being able to move the library easier).

Yeah I found out they updated Logic but not the remote app - which is a bit daft

What I absolutely don't understand is why Logic first converts MIDI parts to audio before performing chord detection on the audio? That it's not possible otherwise with audio – okay. But Logic has had MIDI chord detection for ages. Why don't they just use that?

The result is abysmal because of it. A simple example: Two bars of a piano with the simplest chords imaginable. Triads in each case. Cubase and Studio Pro use MIDI and recognize the chords practically instantly on drag and drop. Logic, on the other hand, has to convert the MIDI first and then guesses something, which is wrong even with these simplest chords.

I hate signatures too.

And before anyone gets the idea and says that it's probably because of the key change from C major to F major taking place in the same MIDI part... I split the MIDI parts.

The result doesn't get any better. Quite the opposite:

After all, Logic did detect a key change. However, not from C major to F major, but from F major to D minor?! Did they test this?

I probably don't need to mention that this was no problem for Cubase and Studio Pro.
