Hi,

I wonder how to recreate this lead (just out of curiosity) in synths like Diva/The Legend HZ/Dune 3.

I found this video of guy recreating it in Discovery Pro, but no idea how to do this "effect" in those 3 synths.

Thanks

I just tried this in Vital and it wont sound right but it does work in Good-Old Synth1

The basics of it is a square or slight pulse and FM it with white noise

The rest is just opening and closing the filter with the envelope and an LFO on the filter too for extra movement.
Delay and reverb.

Yeah but I was wondering if it can be done in those 3 synths I've listed.

I've found a similar preset in Diva actually but will need to look into it later, I'm new to Diva actually.

Sorry I don't have those synths
But FM-ing with white noise will either sound right or wrong in certain synths. Depends on how they were programmed.

Just try it in the 3 you mentioned and see for yourself but the steps behind it are per above.

Modulate OSC 1 (Square) Pitch Fine with Noise Gen and you got something to start.

If you’re interested, I also made a recreation of this lead in Waldorf Largo.

Thanks but I don't own it.

I've tried in Dune 3 and Spire, I can get it to sound somewhat similar, but to get it sounding as good as in that track is hard.

Nice try. :tu: :phones:

You probably haven't stopped to think that what you hear is not what you feel. Especially seeing this is in the context of a) a composition and performance and b) a mix.

Therefore, one could have the very synth/sound and never feel you have it at all. Also, what works great in one song is not a shoe-in for another song - no matter how much one wishes it so. The same sound could be used, but by the time is finished, the average punter may never pick it. Not even from munging etc but simply becuase the song and therefore the parts feel different overall. If you wonder, as the 80s 9the real one) about DX-7 preset usage ;-)

But this thread is about learning the techniques to make interesting sounds like that, not to copy the sound to use it in own track.

What’s interesting I have just learned that in the hardstyle track below the main layer is designed in the same way as in Sublime,
Noise gen modulating fine/pitch.
