Kids have it easy but adults don't... Back in the day a dad had 4-5 kids, nowadays a kid has 4-5 dads & good luck guessing genders on these kids some look like aliens...

I hear you on the black hole. I don't want to swing back to early daw days, but I wouldn't mind a condensed Logic on Windows (with better instruments quality), and call it done.

I love darker themes, this is the one I use for Digital Performer, custom job by an end user, blacker than the blackest standard theme.

LOL at the OPs example, Cakewalk Pro Audio, spent months of to-ing and fro-ing with their support to get that to run reliably for me, constant audio dropouts etc so gave up in the end, sold my physical copy to someone else who had simialer issues.
Nah, not nostalgic for those days at all.

If waiting for a better machine/OS Pro Audio probably would have been just fine... Mine runs great on all XP machines no matter how old, Plasma as well... With more advancements old stuff really screams & with stability... But forget win11 for anything old, well maybe AXS which will run on win95-win10 in portable fashion too... Made some skins for it-

Long before Pet Cemetery there was a quirky documentary on a pet cemetery. It was a family business and the son would stand on a high ridge with guitar in hand and Marshall stack serenading the dead pets. I think it was made in the 70's I can't recall the covers he was playing.

That's burning my retinas. It was back in the day when UI design was an after thought by the developer.Essent wrote: Wed Feb 04, 2026 12:40 pm The good old days, when DAWs were not a black hole and didn't inspire you to write graveyard music.

I agree doing recordings with very simple stuff is really fun. I always wanted to have an "Easy" mode in my DAWs. Just to clean out all the fluff.Zeisner wrote: Thu Feb 05, 2026 11:21 pm This was my DAW for quite a while:
Tricky to work with. But lots of fun.
