I see we've watched the same video.wagtunes wrote: Sat Feb 07, 2026 8:39 pm I just listened to the hardware unit on Youtube. It sounds like one of those cheap home organs. What in God's name were they thinking making this trash? This has to be the worst synthesizer I have ever heard in my life.

E-MU Emax.

I was thinking it could also be the Emax, but the demo sounds in their video don't seem to be sample material, e.g. piano,vibes, strings, etc. They "might" have used sampled synth sounds for the teaser video. Maybe they did that on purpose to not give it away?

We can see this numbers on the label on the back of the green can: 2000, 1000, 100, 7, 5, 3. These (except the "100") are Model Numbers of Roland SH-Synthesizers from the 1970s. The 100 stands for Roland System-100, which was also released in the mid-1970s. So, the new CA Plugin will be a kind of modular Roland SH Series Fusion Synth. Next question?

Emax seems to be a strange thing to make a plugin for as the OG Emax was just a lower cost version of the Emulator II with better floppy drivesExamigan wrote: Sun Feb 08, 2026 1:11 pm I was thinking it could also be the Emax, but the demo sounds in their video don't seem to be sample material, e.g. piano,vibes, strings, etc. They "might" have used sampled synth sounds for the teaser video. The MKII version of Emax added 16bit sampling. It was popular as it was reasonably priced, built decently well, and had a really good factory library. In plugin form build quality of the hardware is not relevant nor is the MSRP and without the factory library would be useless as it essentially would be just a plugin with 16bit PCM Sample Playback and a pretty generic digital filter

Jerks. Why do they have to make this so hard?

I looked at the video again, and one of the symbols floating around in the background is + , so maybe the Emulator II+ combined with another synth (a fusion of both) ?

Curious as to why they left off the SH-1 and SH-2 off the list? Of all of them, I'd like the SH-5 as a plugin the most, but they may add some more SH stuff so they can add all the SH-type modules to their modular stuff (if they haven't already, I don't really follow the modular world).
So likely some super SH synth combining elements from different analog Rolies...
Or this could be the least exciting SH-101 plugin to add to, well, all the others...

The release sequence was:
SH-1000 -> 2000 -> 3 -> 3A -> 5 -> 7 -> 1 -> 2 -> 09 -> 101.
So, I guess, that they did concentrate on the SH-models from the begining/mid 1970s, ending with the SH7 from 1978. And from the SH-1, the SH-Synths have been a kind of "budget"-Synths with reduced feature set.
