Would anyone here know if the new Yamaha ESP (comes with the MODXM) will run with WINE in Linux? Or will the old "no low level USB access in WINE" block this too?

FWIW, Even if you get it to run, performance will be terrible.
Under ideal conditions, ESP is a heavy load... even running on the fastest CPUs currently available.
Yamaha needs to address this.

hmmm, I have read first hand owner reports that it seems to run fine on a Surface Pro (7 and above) there are even YT vids on this. Sounds like you may have had an odd bad experience perhaps?

FWIW, I have exceptionally high performance expectations.

If you're talking about running ESP at a 256-sample ASIO buffer size, it's no problem.
If you're trying to run super low round-trip latency (ie: 96k using a 32-sample ASIO buffer size), forget it.

Note: I'm talking about running ESP on the fastest PC and Mac Studio builds currently available... not a Surface Pro (which is considerably slower).
ESP performance could definitely use some optimization (Mac and PC).
