El Loco (Wrath of God)- Electro/Doom (Revised)

Edit; rewrote the synth part at the start as it was taking up too much real estate in the mix, and also tried to make the drums sound more human. More top end loudness to the death vox

Based on the film Aguirre, the Wrath of God by Werner Herzog. It's a re-recording of an old track of mine.

"The story centers on a 16th-century expedition searching for El Dorado, where ambition and madness steadily replace any sense of purpose, with Don Lope de Aguirre (aka, El Loco) emerging as the expedition’s self-appointed leader, driven by ego, paranoia, and a sense of destiny.”

Very cool. I really like the section starting at 1:13, but the whole thing works well. The only thing I would say is the vocal felt like it needed a bit more top end energy.

I haven't seen this movie forever. I'll have to put it in my queue.

Some seriously contrasting textures and ideas, but it all hangs together well.

I really like how how the progression shifts around in unexpected ways. Parts of it reminds me of Crimson. The guitar lead beginning around 1:15 has a Frippish vibe. I really dig the meter shifts. Interesting mix of prog and cinematic styles. Nice work.

Hey Frank. I hope this is the track you were talking about in the other thread. I don't know. It sounds finished to me. In fact, it sounds damn good. I wouldn't change a thing. But then, I'm not very critical of music unless it really sounds like absolute trash or is just so repetitive that it sounds like a loop played over and over, That kind of stuff drives me nuts because it shows no effort at all. This track doesn't even come close to that.

Final verdict - LEAVE IT ALONE!!! LOL

This piece sounds based in the 1970s, both spiritually, and due to its movie roots. Sonically, it sounds much more up to date. Lovin' the Honey Monster vocals with the Åkerfeldt feels.

I only saw the film for the first time a couple of years ago The film would not have been made had Herzog not cancelled his reservation on LANSA Flight 508.
