New album time for me. Written in December/January. Just cheery choons about space things from the perspective of NASA News items. No video this time, just music. Purchasers of the album always appreciated as this is the only way Indie Artists get paid

For the technically curious, everything was done in Reason 13 using mostly stock synths and effects except for a few of my own VST like ADS-8 for drums and 4-Lines Later for echoes/reverb. One point of minor interest was that this time I decided to use the "SSL" mixer instead of the rack so virtually no peeking at spectrum views, just knob-to-ear. It is a nice way to work. Faster, actually, once you know how. I finally got a feel for the built-in channel compressor.

Hey Ben, this is some really cool stuff. So dish, what synths did you use on this album?

Post

Yes, very cool.

Thanks

As always, mostly stock Reason synths and fx.
Some extra sounds were from AS-4000 and ARK-2601 in particular. Oh, and of course, I already mentioned ADS-8 for many of the drums. Basically, if it is not stock Reason then it was probably one - or a combo - of these:

I thought this had a 1970s Vangelis feel, especially with the big synth sounds. The slowish style seems to be very well-suited to the "space" themes of the album. A very smooth, relaxing listen.

Good work :)

Thanks. I deffo tend towards a more trad feel and wanted this record overall to feel more Neve than ProFools. I listened to The Big V for a long time, so he's in there for sure.
