A new theme is up.

And the result from January is up

I have a synth piano & vocal track slowly cooking, too long though 'cause I want to make it kind of boring.

Well, Whatever I might submit will not have me playing any instrument. It's mouse & midi.

Congratulations to everybody who participated in January.
I don't record any instruments live, I construct my music.

Can a drum "kit" be one acoustic intrument?

Yes

I really must make an effort for this month it's been far too long :(
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

Got to say that I fancied this one when I first read it. Felt as if I could handle it nicely.
However, that idea was firmly blown when I saw the first couple of contributions actually confess to NOT attempting the 'acoustic instrument' part.
Now the acoustic part is what I do almost solely these days but I would've been quite happy to try out the other two parts.
In the past I have broken many of my personal rules and attempted midi manipulation and sampling as well as genres way outside of my orbit.
When I come to this and find contributors not even making the attempt then that's me out, folks.

Let me define musician as a person who has learned to play a music instrument.
I'm not a musician.
And I won't drop here the ridiculous results of me 'playing' any instrument.
I actually created a disadvantage for my production regarding voting, when I honestly told that it is mouse work, not played by me. I can't call it cheating.
When the contest calls for skills I don't have, is not a reason for me to not participate. I drop something in that is close to the guidelines of the month.
And finally, 'not even making an attempt' is no disrespect towards people who do play some instrument.

So man, get your act together and submit what you created!
I don't record any instruments live, I construct my music.

Well, excuse me for voicing an opinion, sir.
An opinion based on the criteria for a 'theme'.
If we can't actually stick to those criteria then what's the point of having a theme.
May as well simply do 'free-for-all' each month.

As I said in my comment ....
referring to past years here I have been in a similar situation where, as an acoustic instrument player, the theme has required that submissions be electronic and/or midi based. When those themes came up I found myself learning other skills that I never had.
One theme was for everyone to download a given set of midi sequences and make something out of them.
I had never used midi and didn't even know what to do with the files but I asked, and got help from others, and completed the challenge.
That is the point of a themed challenge.
Not to say "I don't do that so I won't bother".

I wouldn't be disheartened, trying and giving it a shot would be my objective. I try to vote on the contest criteria and effort involved. So, you might rank higher than you might think. :D

I intend to knock something up with an acoustic guitar, electric bass and sampled drums or keys.

I do.

Opinions got clarified, agreement not required, contest participation by free choise: satisfactory, case closed.

Well now, although not directed at me I find that attitude quite offense.
I also try to follow the theme requirements as closely as possible. We've had limitations like this before, and I can't recall anyone else refusing to meet them point-blank.

I hope to contribute this month - it's been far to long since I last did. In the voting I probably won't give you any points at all.

Well, I was really hoping to contribute this month but I'm not going to make it. I simply can't seem to come up with anything. This has been the case for months now, and is both frustrating and worrying :(

There's always another time.

As for creativity. I find practice helps me come up with ideas.

Sorry to hear that, Will. Was looking forward to your contribution after finally taking the plunge myself.
If it is any help, why not try my approach for this one.
What I did was to take a tune I wrote many years ago for a number of 'real' instruments then stripped things out and re-made it to fit the criteria.
All I kept of the original was the guitar chord structure and the 'sample' element then re-did the melody using VST.
You have plenty of old stuff kicking about, mate. Just try a re-jig?

I've got a track for an entry.

Yesterday, It was hastily put together with no melody and a few bum notes.
This was also my first foray into recording mid/side acoustic guitar, which was a failure.
Recorded freely to no click. Tempo mapping used in Studio One DAW.
Too little, too late.
