The basic idea is good but I feel this is a little underdeveloped. Perhaps I missed something but adding in variable length and independent speed would be a big improvement. I could not find a way to have a 20 step arp of 1/8th notes for example

Yeah I hv few things on my todo list.
By 1/8 if you mean triplets, actually i hv it. But its hidden for now because it changes the grid resolution, and if steps are drawn already, its not easy to decide which step to remove. It also made existing pattern sound unexpected. I am thinking of just clearing the grid on triplet toggle. Will see.
Few things i intentionally avoided to keep it simple and musical and not go into experimental genre, like chance/probability, random velocity. I find those things more distracting than helpful. Enemies of 'memorable'.
I am more into old-school gears like the TR-808 or TB-303, famous for precise, predictable loops.
I wanted to start with the features I use the most, but the possibilities are endless
