Good points. For me, that question includes synthesis. There were some tracks with such cool synthesis & sound design that I listened multiple times in sheer awe. In fact, I've still been listening, and I changed a few votes. Too much good stuff!Parduz wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 11:11 am And is interesting to see how much differently each one of use vote.
As example:I couldn't ask this to myself, 'cause there's some track that I didn't enjoy AT ALL, but they sounded great thanks to amazing synthesis skills, and this is primarly a Synthesis contest; so I felt that the track deserved my 5 even if I don't like the genre and i won't listen to that track anymore.aarongrooves wrote: Mon Feb 09, 2026 10:15 pm

But sure, composition/mixing/mastering skills and personal tastes all have a weight on the votes, in the end, otherwise we could vote on one single note showing a single preset![]()
Just had another thought. Our ability to appreciate the synthesis and/or sound design largely depends on our expertise. I'm positive that I can't appreciate some of the techniques as deeply as certain OSCers. Some of you guys are on such a high level it's scary.
Same with composition. My expertise is music theory, jazz, relative pitch...with most tracks, I can more easily tell the effort that went into composing than the effort that went into creating the sounds.
The same for my own synthesis. I spent soooo many hours making sounds with Oxid (OSC 202) and didn't finish in time. But in the end, when something works sonically, it just kinda becomes invisible. A blessing and curse lol.

Voted. Fun listen through though difficult coming up with common scoring across so many genres!
