For what it's worth, loyalty pricing has been extended until June 2026.

What was it before? I don't remember it being particularly cheap to start with.

You mean, the punishment-for-loyality rip-off pricing is back...
How graceful that he gives you another chance to give him your money,
but you need to be quick of course...

Lol wtf :hyper:
Also, it seems the upgrade price is significantly more than it used to be. Oh well.

I can't think of any developer that has so consistently infuriated its clients or potential clients.
If there was a Grammy award for such behaviour, they'd be in with a good shout.

They would win the Grammy hands down...

But if Crysonic was still around,we'd be taking bets

Yesterday I asked DiscoDSP support to provide the latest installers with active licenses, I have 3 products.

FYI, here is the answer:
Regrettably, your licenses seem to be more than ten years old, and we do not have access to the software installers for those.

Oh, that's nasty😐

Reminds me of the South Park episode, where you open a bank account, deposit money aaand... it's gone! Please make room for new customers!

Anyways, Discovery Pro 7 was still sold three years ago. Anyone who "recently" purchased it lost it as well. Stating that you purchased it 10 years ago is just an additional move to degrade you personally as a customer.

I'm slowly getting the impression that discoDSP has a challenge going on:
“How can I most effectively annoy my existing customers?”

What I REALLY "think" is the case, is that George can't program. In order to improve his software (his company's only real asset), he has to hire out to contract developers. To do that, he needs money. The only way to get money, is through sales. And George will use any means available to get those sales, including:

* Using AI to reword his software updates and announcements to make them look friendly, and more technical to impress users into thinking that these updates are really impressive and that he's a nice guy.

* Making the updates frequent so that he can quickly increase the version number to ask for upgrade fees

* Make copy protection challenge/response to keep tight control on who has access to the software, and aggressively defend his source code and intellectual property

* Remove the downloads after a short time and then demand fees to get a copy of the software if you need one

* etc., etc., what ever new scheme he comes up with.....

Here's the problem. He's in a niche market, and he has horrible customer service skills.

In a niche market, like audio software, there is a much greater limit on how many sales can be exptected, and most people who survive actually do most of the development by themselves--it saves a lot on development costs. They also have developed people skills and have managed to garner trust, loyalty, and good will from the userbase. Because he lacks the necessary skills to actually survive in this business, he is really struggling to keep the business afloat. And he's doing whatever he thinks it takes to accomplish this--including all of the sleazy scheming--which is alienating his userbase.

This is all postulation, of course. I have no inside knowledge. But having watched what's gone on over the years--including the falling out with his developer/partner, "Arguru" (RIP), and the constant schemes and his own admission to being unable to program much, it all makes me believe that this is what is going on.
Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

George "improves the quality" and "makes it even more analog" every 2 weeks and that's not blowing your mind??? :o
