If you're using it as a video game, sure. Any DAW can be used as a video game. But why not playing an actual game instead?

It could come in a raster and vector version and you have the option to import your own graphics.
thats a cool idea! I just like messing with the idea of what an audio tool can be. And I come more from the creator/artist side of production

For me its just a fun reason to try something new. As more of a producer/artist sometimes I get stuck in the numbers and math of mixing music when I should be trying to be creative and playful. But to each there own for sure!

Nothing wrong with trying something fun whilst crafting your exquisitely tooled and serious masterpieces.
Thanks! Sometimes I just like a little creative spice while listening to the track for the 1 millionth time lol

The custom GUIs with formula support is one of the reasons why I stick with FL Studio. It makes working with several plugins at once more convenient. Like building your own multiband compressor out of several singleband compressors and filters and controlling it all from one GUI as if it was just another plugin. Much better than having to deal with lots of windows.

Sure, it's nothing new, Blue Cat Audio had custom GUI MIDI controller plugins (You could in fact create new GUIs for all their plugins). But they were quite heavy on the CPU and making your own controllers wasn't as simple and straight-forward as FL's Dashboard/Surface.

Reminds me of all the gimmicky plugins you could find 20 years ago, which I always thought were fun. I'd never use it in a serious production, but it's a neat little toy to play with.

I like video games, I like audio plugins, but I don't want a plugin that has a game-like interface.

Post

There seems to be a whole glut of new devs coming out with interesting GUIs of late, or at least embedded with creative, dynamic sections of the interface

Because I don't want to. :D

Let me expanded upon what I mean, FL Studio can be non-linear unlike you traditional DAW, the exploratory exploration in arrangement of work flows, you can can make the same arrangements many different ways not just on a linear grid (like a video game) and it can be a traditional DAW (not the best nor the most stable) and it can be an instrument.
A Video game is a sandbox as is FL.

Here's a new one (well, actually it's an old one):

Such a "tool" actually existed for Playstation one. I had my fun with it :)
